Agree. Men who go out of their way to evaluate women’s appearances and say they like women with no makeup generally mean they prefer it when women are level ten makeup astronauts who make full face look like “I just woke up this way!”

That said, the full-set lakes that make it visibly hard for a person to blink look really uncomfortable, and that makes me vicariously uncomfortable.

How do you evaluate that? I’m really asking, cause I’ve been in long-term relationships, so I’ve gone to bed next to someone who just removed their makeup and liked their face better without it, so please let me know how you evaluate that “generally” that’s what men mean - that they like full face make-up?

There’s two kinds of putting on makeup: the kind where you’re going for drama, and the kind where you try to make it look as natural as possible, highlighting features to make them look better.

Most often, when you see comments about ‘women should look like this!’ And ‘see, women without makeup look better!’ the pictures that go along with the comment are women with a very good version of the second type of makeup.

say they like women with no makeup

It generally means they don’t like women wearing so much make-up it is noticeable even to them.

At least for me. I rather prefer them a little ugly than looking like a clown.

To say it differently, you don’t ask a fish how to go fishing. They would just say “be a delicious worm or bug” and have no concept of rods, reels, locations, or any of the skills involved in actually fishing.

Yeah, this statement is simply wrong. Men unconsciously notice a lot of things, and they might deny noticing even obvious ones because any acknowledgement of fashion is considered effeminate by some men.

I love the drag queen lashes that are so long they’ll take out the person next to you if you turn your head too fast.

Mates, makeup ain’t for y’all. You know how you spent eight hours messing with your .bashrc or rolling for counter strike skins or whatever weirdass hobby you have? You don’t do it because you are trying to attract women - you see your friends get into something cool and you get competitive with them. That’s what it is for the womenfolk. They get their nails did and do weird ass makeup looks because it’s a fun hobby. They know that you probably don’t care about the difference between coffin and ballerina nails. But their friends do, and they want to show off, because it’s fun.

I mean, considering how widespread the hobby seems to be and how long limited forms of it have been around, I wouldn’t be surprised if evolution had a hand in it even if people don’t consciously perceive themselves as doing makeup for that reason. It’s kind of like how people tend to get bored of the same food if they eat it too much because the same taste over and over stops being interesting, but really, that mechanism promotes a more diverse diet that covers more nutritional requirements.

Yeah women spend an hour on makeup before their shitty job they hate every morning because they just like it as a fun thing to do, totally nothing to do with societal pressures of beauty, it’s just a fun thing most women like to do to entertain themselves at 6am when they ain’t getting enough sleep as is.

And the notion of what is looking good and bad is a result of heavily sexualized norms that are fed into girls at a young age already. In the effect women who chose not to wear makeup are facing backlash and are made to feel less confident.

So it isn’t just a fun hobby. It is also the expression and often submission to sexualized and sexist societal norms.

hey so this might come as a surprise to some guys but actually most of the time women put effort into their appearance for themselves, so they feel confident, and comfortable in their bodies.

this post is reeking of Jordan Peterson’s women wear makeup because they want to fuck me energy

You cannot not communicate, the societal notion as to which is “good looks” for women is strongly sexualized and children are exposed to these notions from an early age. Also the subtle or less subtle social pressure plays a big role in it. A friend of mine moved from a “posh” city to mine. She said she didn’t dare going out without putting on makeup for two hours because she would get bad looks in the street otherwise and it took her a long time to unlearn that.

So while it isn’t women wearing make up because they want to fuck, the social construction that makes them feel less confident and less comfortable without make up is revolving around that and it is part of the problem. It is not that women just feel more confident with make up. It is that they feel less confident without it, because they are pressured to feel so.

Sure, but that doesn’t explain things like elaborately decorated nails. Women aren’t doing that to attract men. They’re doing it because they like the way it looks and they feel like it’s a way of expressing themselves.

And yet men go for the women with long eyelashes. Just because men aren’t aware of it doesn’t mean the women’s moves don’t work.

But even if they didn’t, imagine this: Women can change the way they look entirely without wanting to look hotter for men. Shocking, I know.

I am sorry for sharing this opinion, but finding something attractive because it is hard to put sounds similar to asian tradition of breaking little girl’s feet to make it small so they would look more “attractive”.

And while putting fake eyelashes doesn’t seem to hurt anyone, enjoying such thing does seem wrong to me. It is just another fake ritual of mating dance made by fashion industry. Do you really consider yourself no good enough to be loved without ones?

I knew a girl with thin eyelashes in junior high/high school. She got made fun of for it a lot, by both girls and boys. So, I’m guessing some girls want thick lashes because they learned the hard way that guys do indeed care, and unfortunately society cares in general.
