I support Iran’s defensive actions against Israeli aggression. I hope Iran chooses military and intelligence targets instead of civilian ones, in compliance with international law, despite Israel targeting primarily civilians in their war of conquest.

Well said. Lawful engagement is the only way if anyone is going to hold that kind of power. American hegemony has proven itself thoroughly hypocritical, time and time again. It’s attack dog in the middle east is holding the leash. Rule of law must reign - but never forget its our collective responsibility to write and uphold just laws for the collective.

Israel has attacked 4 different countries in it’s ‘war against hamas.’ It’s attacked, Syria, Lebanon, Iran and Palestine. They’re aggressively trying to escalate.

I mean fck Israel for their genocide, but also fck Iran. Don’t forget that they sponsor terrorist groups around the world including the Houthis, Hamas and Hezbollah, which destabilise three countries in the Middle East. They send drones to Russia that have killed thousands of Ukrainians. They have a brutal regime that’s one of the worst for women’s rights. This is a fight between two complete dicks.

Isn’t that the US’s fault though? Didn’t they help overthrow the previous government in Iran for the current one? Not say that makes Iran a good place, just that this is all because of the US.

No that’s not the case. The US actually was a big fan of the pre-Khomeiny government in Iran. Of course Trump did make things worse by tearing up the Iran-nuclear deal.

I think they’re referring to the 1953 coup that the CIA was definitely involved with, but I’m not too sure how involved the US was in the 1979 revolution. The US probably didn’t have much influence in that one considering how long the Iran hostage crisis lasted.

Probably not. It’s one of if not the most sophisticated air-defense on the planet. Without overwhelming it, attacks have little chance of any significant successes.

Just look at Ukraine, most attacks never reach their target and they are probably not equipped as well as Israel is (and also spread out much further). Even Russia’s “hypersonic” missiles are shot down by plain ol’ patriot systems on the regular.

So unless Iran pulls out some really fancy tricks, they will probably just hit low-value targets or maybe manage to overwhelm the defense in some limited areas (at the cost of a lot of drones). If this was to drag on however, it’ll start to hurt eventually…

This is untrue. Patriot systems have only downed missiles that travel at hypersonic but slow down in final approach (Kinzhal). The US military recognized that these are not “true hypersonics” because of this. The Zircon missile has only been used 5 times in Ukraine, none of have been shot down. It is currently considered the fastest missile in the world with no known defense.

And even with that, the Kinzhal has been incredibly effective, as you can easily see based on the fact that Russia is hitting strategic targets in Western Ukraine including the capital.

Iran went to UNSC and asked for Israeli attack on their embassy to be condemned, and they stated there would be no response if that happened. Thanks to the burger empire UNSC failed to condemn Israeli attack. Claiming that this is Iran escalating is the height of dishonesty.

Maybe they shouldn’t bomb Iran if they don’t want them to strike back?

Like I want all of this conflict to end, but Israel literally just bombed Iran’s consulate in Syria, killing 2 generals and 5 officers. What do people think is gonna happen when they do that? Do they expect a country to just say “oh no don’t do it again please.”?

If it was US generals and officers the US would have went ape shit about it in response

Israel was striking their consulate in response to rockets that were fired at them, but the detail that people miss is that the rockets fired was in response to Israel previously striking them as well.

As another commenter said, Iran has the right to defend itself. If Israel wants Iran to stop attacking them, maybe they should try not attacking Iran?

It won’t. Unfortunately this is not even a propportional response. I highly doubt attack on Gaza will be reduced, and I only hope Israel won’t use this as pretext to attack Iran even more.

There’s an argument that the Moscow wing of the Republican Party has emboldened countries like Iran due to its lack of support for Ukraine. Just because the US might not get involved, it doesn’t mean its adversaries will also sit this one out.

I think countries like Israel and the US enacting and enabling a genocide and constantly bombing countries in the middle east has “emboldened countries like Iran” (hmm, I wonder what you meant with that phrasing…). Israel just struck an Iranian embassy last week, and this is retaliation.

“There’s an argument” you have no idea what you’re talking about.

What israel did, attacking the consulate of iran inside Síria is really really fucked up. Iran played it cool and did this attack today, wich you could consider a very light response because attacking an embassy is casus belli (reason for war). But the usa will turn this into ww3 sooner or later, theres no doubt about it
