PeopleMakeGames has a two part series on Valve that’s pretty interesting. The second part (here) dives into the structure of the company. It does have a bit of an angle, fwiw, so if you’d prefer something more objective, it might not be a great watch. Personally I think the issues they bring up are valid, but figured I’d mention it.

People don’t (or shouldn’t) vote only when they know they’ll get what they want. That’s a good way to never get anything done. The only way to achieve anything is by acting with conviction and encouraging/hoping others do the same.

I was thrilled to see Sony start porting over interesting looking games, but if they go back to their previous release standard, I’m fine going back to my previous “not playing ps exclusives” standards. I’ve got plenty of other games to get to. No need to go out of my way to get over the hurdles they put up.

Not sure how forced account creation would help with either of those. Both are only problems when they already have accounts.

For the rest of the box, break the bars in half (while still in the wrapper) and eat the two top halves for the equivalent of one bar. The you can wrap up the remaining halves more securely.

State cops don’t take orders from the president, fwiw. I’m sure there’s steps Biden could take to respond to this sort of thing and his silence is certainly problematic, but he’s not personally sending in forces here, unlike certain other presidents.

This is fascism-lite. Just because people aren’t disappeared doesn’t mean it’s not in the same category. And the only way we can hope to stop from getting to “actual” fascism is by resisting shit like this.

Eh, it depends on how much you trust/value the company or product. I got a first gen Steam Deck and, while I didn’t expect an updated model so quickly, I have no regrets. Even if it didn’t live up to my expectations (it has), I would’ve wanted to support a customer friendly device like this.

If it’s purely transactional, though, I agree - waiting for an updated or revamped version will be a much better value overall.
