Are there any social media sites / forums / “reddit-likes” (EXCEPT 4chan and reddit) which dosent have ANY censorship and little to no moderation , please dont say “uhh lemmy” because there are many cases recently where people have banned or their post removed or supressed . Or is the “dark web” the only option left for the people striving for free speech ?

edit - by free speech I mean everything except CP , extreme racism , illegal pornography and anything related to drugs. Also I see a free speech platform as a place where anyone with any view (except the above) can openly share their idea instead of fearing about moderation or one sided politics

edit 2 - ok folks I am going to delete this post after 12 hours , I think either i have wrongly worded my question OR most poeple here are so brainwashed by media and government to think that free speech is a VERY BAD thing and will immediately mean racism , cp and other bad things and that if i ask for free speech i immediately become a person who enjoys those BAD things and that these social media sites with little to no free speech and heavy moderation are doing the right thing (also thanks to the people who genuinely tried to understand my issue and answered me accordingly ) Today i have asked this question , one day a whole nation will do the same

There seems to be a rather widespread misconception of the term “free speech”. Free speech does not mean that you are allowed to say everything.

Say you work for a government or a company and you know something that is classified. Are you allowed to say that because “free speech”? No, of course not.

Say there is a group of people who wants to kill a person, but they don’t know where to find that person. But you know and you tell them. Are you allowed to do that because “free speech”? No, of course not.

Say you’re a doctor and you know something about the condition of one of your patients. Are you allowed to post about their illness on social media? No, of course not.

Free Speech is no magic super-right that stands above all other rights. Free speech has to be limited in favor of other rights of other persons, and it is everywhere. There are difference in how much is tolerated, in the US it is pretty much, in Germany holocaust denial is a criminal offense for example.

And that is another reason why you can’t have unmoderated social media. Some things are simply not allowed, for better.

Put simply, an individual’s right to free speech can never be without limits, because that would mean they would limit the rights of others.

Eg. threatening to kill people who want to voice their opinion, limits their ability to exercise their right to free speech.

Eg. you could use a siren to drown out what other people wish to say, effectively censoring them, then call it censorship when someone criticized you for doing so.

Eg. being able to say whatever you want on someone else’s website, limits their ability to say or not say what they want on their website.

This is why limiting the right to free speech of certain people, on average results in more free speech for everyone.

What part in my “giant philosophical post” (lol) is about shutting down opinions I don’t like?

I’ve seen this a million times. Your little “for better” will almost certainly morph into including things you don’t like given time.

You construct a strawman of the worst cases and then whittle away and lower the bar until there is no free speech not only in absolutes, but also in practice where people’s ability to share and discuss honest opinions are also shut down.

A website that prompts free speech will do so in principal, not in absolutes. Seeking to preserve as much back as forth discussion as possible and reluctantly moderating where it’s necessary.

Posts like yours are justifications in opposition of that sort of practical free speech, disguised as reasonable by associating free speech with stuff like leaking confidential information.

So nothing, huh? Who is constructing a straw man here?

It is really simple. You can’t use your rights to violate the rights of other people. That is not your right. There is plenty of room left for discussing all kind of stuff, no matter how controverse or delicate it is. But otherwise some actions performed under “free speech” could even hinder people to use their own right of free speech.
