  • it will be interesting to see how apple tries to instill consumer trust for doing something technally less secure than microsoft’s on-device copilot garbage (which was kind of a PR failure as we all know). as always, apple knows when to innovate and knows when to follow the leader

don’t get me wrong, both companies are profit seeking entities but it’s always impressive how apple uses marketing to pull off parallel implementations with 99% less uproar. in my view, articles like this are a grassroots of what it’s planning to maximize support

edit: to be more clear this is an apple enthusiast comment; i am inspired/in awe by apple’s marketing talent and product strategy. i am just highly critical of the AI trend going around

  • uh this might get me hate but this is a rare instance of youtube doing its job and doing it well.

members videos are basically like patreon but directly on youtube. members who choose to fund a channel get ad-free and exclusive content on top of the knowledge their money/attention is going directly towards their favorite creator and not some random advertiser.

and youtube is doing its job by advertising this content. it would be a failure of a service if it kept these videos a secret.

    “but it’s annoying”

it says “members only” right there. just don’t click it and learn to accept that the creators you enjoy need to make a living somehow.

I can’t tell if you are purposefully taking the post literally just to be able to shoot it down.

Most people here are taking the post literally. A smaller, not insignificant but smaller, number are reading satire/irony (regarding tax exemption) into it but that does not mean there is only one valid interpretation.

Pro tip, if you need to reject the majority reading of a rhetorical post in order to defend it, that’s an indication you might be the one who is approaching in bad faith. Either that or the post is indefensible and needs rewritten.

I happen to agree with your position too, but just be careful about calling that commenter out for something as benign as taking a straightforward text literally.

I don’t disagree with you per se? I simply haven’t seen empirical evidence to support this statement:

Christians in the US demonstrably [don’t] care about the poor that much these days.

Meanwhile the evidence that the ultra wealthy are actively screwing over the lower class piles up daily. If you have a citation for that thesis above I’d love to talk.
