Are you asking me why is paint the way it is? I don’t know, take it up with nature, but stop spreading misinformation.
Red/yellow/blue are the primary colors for paints (as distinct from dyes/pigments, that’s CMY(k) and as distinct from light, that’s RGB).
I believe it isn’t even easier to use a private DNS or VPN what it’s supposed to be legal on Apple devices.
You’re entitled to your POV but Apple devices (including an Apple TV) can all use private DNS servers. I don’t run a private VPN so I can’t attest to that but of course MacOS can run normal VPN software and custom VPNs. Where are you coming from with this?
The electric company is clearly complicit.
No, they’ll think the corporate dystopia they’ve grown up into is normal. They don’t know that corporations tried and failed to stop people from owning and using VCRs. They think it’s their duty to sit and watch ads from their favorite creators like passive cows.
I hadn’t ever seen this XKCD, but as someone who’s constantly worrying about spending too long solving silly problems, this is really encouraging. Even more so when you solve someone else’s problems and save them time. Thanks for the share!
The liberal media gets this all screwed up. He said:
Free speech?! Absolutionist!
Cool anecdote.
Which is why “rurality” is a synonym for modernity, and why “rural electricity/telephone/internet access” reminds you of a high tech data center. Ok.
The Venn diagram of farmers and early adopters is harry potter’s glasses
I don’t think the poor design is on purpose. They just literally don’t know what they’re doing. It’s not like they could have chosen from the centuries of DEI curriculum work, and they chose stupid systems out of malice. They’re making it up on the spot. And it’s poorly designed, hamfisted and patronizing. So let it die.
I mean, I’d record songs off the radio on tape and make my own mix tapes and trade them with friends. I’d buy CDs and rip them to MP3s, made custom mix CDs, and CDRs full of 700 mb of mp3s. I owned several MP3 players before the iPod, and since. People listened to music in thousands of ways before Spotify, and will after.
Well you know how before Spotify, people used to listen to music from their favorite artists? Spotify made it so that you could listen to music from your favorite artists via a middleman.

I can’t recall a time in history before this last 10 hellish years where I’ve been required to watch ads. If CBS had required that I have some sort of pressure plate to make sure my ass was in the seat during the ad breaks they’d be getting hate too. They can serve all the ads they want, I can choose to watch them. They’re violating the 2nd part of it and incurring the hostility that they should. Everything is turning into a timeshare presentation.
I have a 5 year old iphone, it’s great. I can’t imagine it’s worth anything, just noting it works for every day use. You don’t need a new phone at all for anything.
ETA: I just NFC-charged my local transit card with my ancient-ass iphone the other day which is a thing I didn’t honestly know it could do yesterday. I’m not trolling, I don’t know what has been offered in the last 5 years on either platform that is at all required to use a phone, as long as Apple continues to support the phone with OS updates.
“Let them fly private.”
Yeah I have super close family members that are cousins once removed. Huh, what a weird fact to learn.
I think you’re right, it really may be an insurmountable logistics issue. But it’s also a complete nonstarter in a world where the only difference between models (or often their prime upselling point) is the battery capacity. There could theoretically be some kind of EU-style mandate for standardized battery sizes but I sincerely doubt it’ll happen until well past the time the market is concerned about and motivated by range.
Not sure if that’s a quirk of your particular laptop but I’ve been using a thunderbolt to dual displayport adapter for years and it works great out of one port to drive a pair of 240hz 1440p displays.
