To play devil’s advocate, that’s because Edge is the system web view used for system components. Removing it means certain UI for system components won’t be able to be rendered. It’s the same reason why uninstalling Chrome from Android breaks a bunch of stuff. They should decouple the web view from the browser but here we are.

Those AMD and Intel chips drew a lot more power though. That said, AMD’s Z1 Extreme looks very promising and shows that AMD can compete in the same ballpark or even surpass. It’s just a matter of waiting for laptops to adopt it.

Yea I ended up modding the game to make it easier. I couldn’t force myself through the virtually forced grind to get past certain parts of the game.

Doesn’t Google provide search results based on your search history? It’s algorithm probably worked against them or something. I’ve heard that anonymous searches usually get better results.

The cloud storage is a pretty good value when you use the family plan as others have said. But having collaborative editing support with the full functionality of Office is very useful. I’m aware that GDocs can do it but if you’re regularly writing documents, Office has a much more intuitive interface and more advanced features that I can be very useful.

The bundled 60 international Skype minutes are also very useful when planning trips overseas.

Yea I get where you’re coming from. Unfortunately, my work requires me to use an Nvidia GPU so I can’t really budge on that front. It is what it is.

I would if their features worked consistently for me. If I’m paying a monthly subscription, the app better not have major bugs in the key features I use. With my hardware configuration, screensharing is a blurry stuttery mess, their mobile app is a complete shitshow that can’t even layout elements correctly or display the correct channel without having to restart the app every few seconds.

It doesn’t help that their support seems to be ignoring reports of these issues from people.

It’s more likely that someone will buy a laptop or PC with Windows installed. Installing Windows on their own is hardly the experience most users go through.

For tech saavy, programmers, engineers I… don’t really get how you can use Windows at all until you are forced by your environment. Going from Windows to Linux to do work is just like going from ChromeOS to MacOS.

I do native Windows, Linux and Android development and much prefer working on Windows since I like the software and tooling there better. At home, I don’t really want to fiddle with Linux anymore than I want to. Spending 2 days trying to fix my work PC’s Ubuntu installation not being able to detect my Nvidia GPU has scared me off bothering with it.

Coincidentally, I did not have fun switching over to my Ubuntu partition at work today and finding out my Bluetooth mouse stopped working with it all of a sudden.

For what it’s worth, Satya shutting it down it wasn’t any better. At least with Balmer, it may still be alive today. It was actually doing pretty well in certain markets in Europe. All of which they threw away very quickly after Satya took over.

I’m not as familiar with Balmer’s time but it sure seems MS under Satya was way more trigger happy when it comes to cancelling and deprecating products.

I mean the physical movement of the trackpad. Traditional non haptic trackpads physically get pushed down when you click on them.

Force Touch is something I am not sure that was ever done outside ~the Mac~ Apple. I still love how the trackpad isn’t really a click, but a haptic tap that can occur at a configurable pressure, and does not occur at all when the device is powered off.

The recent Surface laptop also use haptic trackpads. That said I feel like I’m in the small minority that absolute hates force touch which is a real shame because the pre-force touch trackpads was the best trackpads anyone has ever made. I can definitely feel the lack of movement when I use a force touch trackpad and it feels extremely uncomfortable to me. So much that a Macbook is completely unusable without a mouse for me.
