Ive been using descovery for a while. It works mostly great. I have to learn a bit better how this works as instances and filters go, but I think I got it figured out for the better part
I love the helpful feeling you get from people responses here, not those snarky one liners replies that add nothing (but I’ve done plenty of those on reddit, don’t want to bring that vibe here, although I might have failed already)

Every fruit from big supermarkets tastes like chemicals, looks shiny like you say and they’re all the same size. Also they pick them when they’re not ripe a refrigerate them, so an apple lasts like 3 days outside the fridge before you open it and it’s rotten inside. The good fruit and vegetables come from local markets. It’s less convenient and sometimes even more expensive but you get to taste and benefit from the better nutritional content.
Well thanks I’ll try your suggestions. I tried a portuguese instance but it was really slow going, maybe I should check again. Truth is I haven’t entirely figured how this works and to be truthful staying out of social media as whole has been refreshing. But I find the lack of users and memes from 10 years ago kinda charming, being a decades old reddit user, lemmy holds some of the niceness of reddit in the old years so I’ll stick around. Would mastodon be any better? Have no interest on xitter clones like bluesky
Yeah I can live without bananas. They’re not indigenous* to where I’m from (Portugal) so it makes little sense for me to pay for shipping from other countries while inevitably letting some go to spoil. There’s plenty of other fruit I can eat without making a bigger carbon footprint
*actually we have a variety of bananas from madeira island which is Portuguese. They are smaller than your regular banana but make up for it in taste cause they’re delicious (regular imported bananas don’t taste like much)
Yeah, but it tastes like ripe bananas with cinnamon. I also tried making banana ice cream (only ripe bananas, and stir it while it freezes. Didn’t become a fan. I just opted for not buying bananas
I have a female friend that just sprinkles cinnamon on it and mashes them with a fork and says it’s delicious. Yeah she’s crazy. I suggested putting some palm olive on it so it would make easier to scrape it into the garbage bin
Been trying lemmy for a few months, and I have mixed feelings. Not going back to reddit even if hell freezes but if only I could strip the orange turd and the jumping dipshit (and all of us politics) from my feed I’d enjoy it way more. This is most certainly user error, so if anyone has any recommendations I would welcome them. Being on .world is the problem?

Why did you have to delete it twice? Once did it for me (kidding) But back when reddit was cute (long long ago) they had this thing where they’d ask “are you sure” a lot of times and switch buttons and stuff to trick you (in a playful way) I liked it back then

I’m using discovery in ios phone mostly. It works nice once you learn how (I’m starting to sound like my old man)
