I think you hit the main issue right there. Devs don’t hate the tool, they hate that the tool doesn’t solve the issue. Like trying to drill a hole with a screw and a hammer.

No, I do it too. Specially if everyone else logged out and I can finally work in peace without having to stop to help everyone else.

Many of them do give you a way to pre-download a movie, at least on mobile and windows apps. It’s not every service, or every movie, though.
