Permissive licenses are truer to the spirit of free software but copyleft, while kind of a copout, seems more pragmatic due to corporations. I wouldn’t avoid copyleft licensing on principle or anything but it feels incongruous to want to make something freely available to all but then nitpick over how they use it.
Not going to X (or any wrappers) but I’m curious what “supported games” means. Because I would expect that it’s actually “games that support timeline markers” like how they integrate rich presence. Devs could just use a new header and implement this nifty feature.
I don’t see a negative. It’s foss so you ought to be relaxed about others using your code. The issues are probably just articulating problems that were already there. If it’s stuff you don’t care about… it’s a foss repository so you just ignore it.
The other day I was trying to disable Ubuntu Pro stuff and the way to do it reminded me of Windows. Once I get my media backed up I’m switching to another distro, just not sure what one yet.
I don’t understand feeling those things and then choosing to buy a Sony game that requires a Sony account, normalizing and supporting such practices. Giving people money is far more of a normalization tactic.
Burning CDs. That’s how I know most people didn’t know how to do it, or want to put in the effort. You had to go buy a stack of CDs, hope your computer supported burning, had to make sure players could support the burned disc (depending on if you made a music disc or data disc, if it was rewritable), and spend the time to burn the disc.
Contrast that to ctrl+c ctrl+v.

Most of the time when a law sounds silly for banning something when alternatives exist, it’s because people themselves are silly and don’t actually go for the alternatives at the same rate as they would the banned thing. Ie gun accessory bans, ninja star bans.

Yeah I would like a better Pokemon game, not an fps survival with monsters. The idea is that people looking for a Pokemon game probably aren’t simply looking for a collectible monster game, they want the things that are associated with Pokemon games.
I like Pokemon games for the adventure, turn based combat, and polished stable of monsters. Does palworld have those things?

Wouldn’t the artists be jealous of the programmers? You never see artists stick up for programmers being replaced by game engines. Programmers had no problem giving independence to artists. But artists have a huge problem giving back to programmers. I should be able to make a Stardew Valley with no artistic skill just like Stardew Valley was made with no programming skill. We’re leveling the playing field, and look whose whining.
You’re in a thread about an offroad capable vehicle, where people might share their experiences with offroading. They’re sharing their experiences because it’s relevant, not because most people go offroading.
I don’t think in terms of optics. I don’t care if it seems degrading or feels degrading. My philosophical and moral axioms are more about results, cause and effect, reality, etc.
Go to a homeless shelter. Or try dealing with children. There’s a time and place for uplifting people, but you also have to pay attention to what’s real. Think about the mental state of the person in that point in time. Learn to prioritize. Forcing a stubborn person to take pills is better than childishly clinging to ideas about personal autonomy.
I guess if you have very little life experience, don’t understand people, and haven’t developed a comprehensive, holistic perspective of humanity, then I could see how this would be a dilemma for someone.
Not taking pills, or taking them improperly, can be fatal. OP doesn’t care because they have a personal belief. They said that they would die on that hill, which is a poor choice of words because other people might literally die for their belief.

Interesting idea. We could effectively practice eugenics in a way that won’t make people so mad. They’ll have to contend with ideas like free will and personal responsibility before they can go after our program.
