I mean it was 0.01, at that point he was screwed anyway, and he fixed his program.
37 is my favorite, because 3x7x37=777 (three sevens), and I think that’s neat.
That probably won’t work by default because ulimit sets maximum processes per user, but I haven’t tried it recently, or with emacs.
Reminds me of a tweet I saw once:
Unlike you jaded pessimists I still have the ability to feel optimistic about something even after a lifetime of disappointment. And you know why? Because I’m stupid.
One of the reasons I was able to argue my ADHD was impacting my life negatively was the fact I was drinking enough coffee to hurt my health just to feel human and I still had executive dysfunction, so stimulants would be more effective and overall work as harm reduction. Now I’m not even on stimulants (technically), I’m finding bupropion works best for me. I still have a small cup of coffee in the morning, as it keeps me regular.
Interesting take as far as China is concerned, not that I disagree. I wonder how their arguments for Palestine don’t conflict with their stance on Taiwan or even Tibet, or their current actions against the Uyghurlar. I suppose it’s more geopolitical posturing against “the West” more than an actual statement of ideology, but there might be nuance.
Hmm, I didn’t expect that last one.
“What do you get if you multiply six by nine?”
"There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened."
Windows 10 has had that for a few years now too, it was just less visible and a little clunkier.
Nah, she was pretty poor growing up, she only became wealthy as a TV personality, literally became rich by becoming famous, if only mostly in the US.
I don’t care what he thinks, but I care that he has a platform that others in his class listen to and may respect. It’s not a position you hear often from those with a lot of wealth. I’m ok with progress coming from any direction, even if it’s self-serving in some form, and I do think it’s self-serving.
If I’m remembering right, one of the treatments for methanol poisoning is ethanol, as the ethanol metabolism supplants the methanol metabolism, or at least slows it to non-lethality. Though I’m sure they have better methods now.
Change my mind.
Sure. Even regularly installing a new OS doesn’t necessarily keep you secure if someone wanted to discreetly install malware on your device. In addition to firmware-level rootkits that re-install themselves on fresh OSs (even platform-agnostic ones), it’s possible that someone might interdict whatever hardware is bought and implant it with additional small hardware that compromises it in some way.
I mean, being trans is perfectly valid, but I think gender dysphoria itself should be classified as a mental illness so long as it brings significant pain/distress to the individual, the solution there is just gender reassignment, surgery, hormones, etc. I don’t think there should be stigma in calling it such, it needs treatment the same as anything else. People with ADHD have a mental illness and get meds, sometimes therapy, people with poor eyesight have an ocular dysfunction of some kind and get glasses or surgery or whatever, none of it should be that big a deal. The point is it can be diagnosed and treated.
I think the response to shit like “transgenderism” being a mental disease should be “well at least their/our dysphoria can be treated now, what’s your excuse?”
Maybe. I’m in cyber security, people tell me I’m pretty decent at it. I have smart everything in my house, but I also use opnSense in my hardware router, have a span port to Security Onion and laugh at the logs, repurpose old desktops as servers for media or whatever, keep most things local except for a few backups, and have battery/UPS backups for my intranet and critical systems.
I mean, that seems like the best solution to rejection: cloning the patient’s germ line and chimerically colonizing the replacement.
I hadn’t heard about that, what a shame.
I think it’s the majority, still. Not sure if that’s technically changed to KDE with Steam Decks though.
