The “install lib-blah-blah-blah” bit doesn’t bother me 'cause whenever I need to make something work, I just copy and paste the “sudo apt install …” commands straight from the internet :)

I just use Debian, KDE is an option during install and I use it. However, my brain lacks wrinkles so I’m sure it could be “better” on a more purpose built gaming distro. Over the decades of on and off Linux use, I always end up on Debian because it feels like solid ground to me

I like nano because it has worked any time I needed it. I don’t dislike nano because I’m not good enough at Linux to have ever run into its limitations

As someone who resides in a rainforest, I see this spider as an ally. He is a fierce hunter that hides away most of the day, and hunts down cockroaches during the night.

At this point I’ve come to cherish the moments that I get to cross paths with these creatures. Our interactions are never negative, and I am grateful to be allied with such a peaceful sentinel.

I don’t think there’s any way to beat YouTube’s infrastructure right now, and you can’t even replicate it without a steady supply of blank checks.

Any geniuses out there know how to think of a system design that’s FOSS, competes with YT’s pay structure, and who knows what’s the best supply for that pay? I hate advertisements.

How do we take the money that we already spend for subscription services and funnel that into some kind of pool to be equitably distributed to content creators?

I just checked my subscriptions and my YouTube Premium is still grandfathered in at $9.99/mo from my Google Play Music subscription that included Google Red.

Myself and family listen to music all the time, and YouTube without ads has paid for itself with dev tutorials, DIY videos and other educational stuff; I can’t run aBO on my TV. As soon as they find a way to kick me off my current rate, I’ll bail, but until then I can’t find a cheaper fit for my needs.
