Funny, I didn’t even notice, just came up on the feed :)
I’d like it how it is now but a bit more active, like reddit circa 2008 when I first joined. Sure there were memes and shitposts, which are fun and have their place, but even then the discussions on news stories and other serious topics were of unusually good quality. Tildes captures the later quite well, but is also pretty quiet.
Jesus it sounds like they took a look at /r/subredditsimulator and thought, “hey let’s make the whole site like that”.
Lots of trees :)
It’s worse than that, when this all started I had a look at their Wikipedia entry. They have 2000 employees across 5 locations. What in the ever loving Christ are they all doing if that app is the best they can do?
They’re super cereal this time.
“Yeah it’s just this really obscure 90s band from Seattle that no vapid 25 year old girl such as yourself would have heard of. Sad story actually, the singer blew his brains out.”
My country and city subs mostly. I still visit covidlonghaulers a bit, because it’s nice to hear from people in the same boat when everyone seems to be acting like it’s all over. I also have a frankly unhealthy addiction to publicfreakout, which I’m working on.
All I think of when I see the name, apart from Meta and Zuchbot 3000, is nuclear war and a woman pissing herself. Still undecided as to which is worse.
Sigh, now I have to watch for millionth time.
I was once suspended for making a dumb dick joke, something like “that guy must be hung” (it made sense in context, stupid sense, but sense nonetheless). This was reported as a threat of violence or whatever. I appealed, explaining that I wasn’t wishing anyone to be hanged, merely suggesting that they must have a large penis and got my account back.
Meanwhile racist dogwhistles and rampant transphobia abound with little consequence.
Ooh, didn’t know we had a trackers community yet, cheers.
