13·7 months agoI was raised evangelical protestant in the USA, at some point attending both Seventh-day Adventist and Pentacostal churches. My mother did not consider my Catholic grandparents to be Christians, based on her belief that one cannot be saved by confession/prayer to a saint or clergy instead of directly to Christ. As many other have said, this is not the mainstream definition.
There are kids around, so it’s gonna be real bad.
And, here me out here: this is a good thing. Nay, a beautiful thing. There are no better things to do because these people care and have a voice. We argue about things for years and make slow progress as people agree or capitulate, and there will always be a fork to avoid those changes people care to enough. No one can just buy the Linux ecosystem and make unpopular changes without broad support. I’m pretty sure a negligible number of people have genuine hatred or prejudice for those using a technology they don’t like. The arguing of Linux and Open Source is a reflection of the most successful form of worldwide democracy ever implemented by mankind.
Since you have LAN parties in mind, be sure to check this list to know what games are (or are not) well supported by Proton under Linux.
Proton is the compatibility layer that allows Seam games developed for Windows to run under Linux. Some games, unfortunately, may have problems that cause you to be left out.

3·1 year agoI went to the Stranger Things popup in Vegas. Not gonna lie, I had a good time. It was like an amusement park exhibit with the classic gift shop at the end, but the prices didn’t seem inflated. If I was interested in buying merch, I’d rather go to to one of these than just order it online. I’m not saying it will be successful, but I don’t hate them for trying it.
And, yes, they did sell DVD boxed sets.
It’s like Mad Max, except you have no guns or ammunition and so are mostly reliant on turtle carcasses and fruit peels instead.
When the box (and instructions) to frozen convenience foods get lost, I use mine to figure out when it’s heated through.

The room is filled with a deadly gas. Either it is built so that it vents into the room naturally from deep under ground, or a diffuser is periodically refilled by whoever controls access to the room.
The McGuffin is the antidote to the gas, which you must obtain and administer before entering.
A homeless man held the door open for me at a pizza place. He didn’t ask for any money or have a sign or anything. Just made himself useful, presumably in hopes that some of the customers would show him an act of kindness in return. It was the first time I gave someone money. He also took a q-tip out of his pocket and somehow used it to relight a half-smoked cigarette out of the ashtray.
