I haven’t had any issue finding those amenities in hotels in Europe (at least in Berlin, Munich, Madrid, and Málaga, which is not an exhaustive study by any means). I’ve seen a few that look to be entire small apartment buildings converted into hotels, which isn’t great for the local housing market, but all the ones I’ve stayed at were clearly built for that purpose. So that’s the good news, I guess.

Many years ago, I worked in a call center. I was sitting with someone who was new helping them take calls and both of our headsets were plugged into the phone. The trainee was helping a store employee and she was just being awful to him. While she went to get something from the customer, I muted the line and said, “God, what a bitch!” except my finger was hovering over the button and I hit it just in time for her to hear me say bitch. I fully panicked and hung up on her. Nobody ever said anything to either of us and this was back when landlines would occasionally cross, so hopefully she thought that’s what happened since she hadn’t heard my voice up until then.

Anyway, I’m pretty sure that’s the origin of why I still don’t trust mute or hold to this day. I’m not talking shit until I know that call is disconnected.

That’s pretty clearly not what’s happening here though - if it’s not mental health related, then she’s a liar because people have found out that some of her claims were untrue (because, again, she posted her real name). I don’t get liar vibes, it really seems like delusions. I’m not trying to beat anyone down, I’m just saying that anyone trying to get a clear answer isn’t going to get one.

She’s convinced her extended family is stalking her, that Lemmy users are doxxing her (even though she’s posted her real name, photos, and a ton of other personal information - apparently clicking her profile is “stalking”), and so on. I’m from CO and dating here is terrible. It wasn’t so bad in my 20s, but doing it in my 30s has been almost entirely shit to the point that I’ve given up, and so have a lot of other people. I love the state, don’t get me wrong, but it’s expensive and the single men seem to have formed some kind of mediocrity pact. The last woman I dated went from witchy pagan to hijab-wearing Muslim convert for a man she’d met in person once, so I haven’t had better luck on the queer scene either.

That said, joining queer spaces wherever you end up is a good way to dip your toes in the water without feeling the pressure that an explicitly dating-oriented site/activity might cause. Join clubs, go to bars, whatever. If you meet someone that way, it’ll likely feel a lot more natural.

Eh, pretty much all of my info has been part of one breach or another and nothing has happened. I keep locks with all the credit bureaus and monitor my report regularly, which I think everyone should do, but there’s not much else you even can do about it unfortunately.

Yeah dude, if I have anything they can use. It’s not like I’ll be using them anymore, and I have a couple of friends who’ve gotten donor organs, so I’ve seen firsthand how it impacts people. I tried to be a kidney donor for another friend but it turns out I don’t have enough extra function that they thought I could give one away. I’m fine, my kidneys are just not going above and beyond, I guess.

True. A lot of sauces are the best in leftovers, but every time, I’m like, “no, this doesn’t taste right, it’s not good, mom taste it and help me,” and then she’s like, “yeah dummy, it’s been on the stove for 5 minutes, give it some time.” I’m not patient.

Couldn’t tell you. Every time I make something really good that’s worth repeating, the recipe is immediately wiped from my mind forever. It’s like some monkey’s paw curse that I can only make the thing the most delicious way once.

I don’t disagree. Ultimately it’s the fault of companies who expect drivers to do way too much to do it well. Having them waste time on a picture is incredibly stupid when a lot of times all it does is prove the delivered to the wrong place. It feels like the kind of thing thought up by upper management with no idea what the actual day to day of the job is like.

Based on the number of photos people post on Nextdoor of their package at a totally different house, I’m not sure why these companies bother. Maybe they could train drivers to actually use their brains to see if they’re at the right place first.

One me gets basically nothing done. I feel like a second me is just gonna be used to play all the coop games my friends don’t play and we’re gonna achieve even less somehow.

Do you think we never got to stop working for a second? Yeah, retail is notorious for the whole “time to lean, time to clean” thing, but we actually did get to chill out if we were caught up. But we were almost never caught up because some people are jerks who leave their carts all over the lot.

As someone who had that job as a teenager, saying it’s better than other tasks is not a high bar. Yeah sure, it sucks less than cleaning the bathrooms or dealing with particularly shitty customers, but that doesn’t mean I was pumped to have to walk the whole fuckin lot to gather all the loose carts that lazy assholes couldn’t be bothered to put back. Gee thanks for the extra work for the lowest paid person at the store, how generous.

Oh that explains why it makes me so uncomfortable when my coworker uses customer names over and over. She comes from a sales-oriented industry and she’s using the same techniques even though that’s not at all the kind of job she has now. I really hate people trying to sell me stuff, so apparently I’ve been feeling annoyed on other people’s behalf.

Wish you could get our IT to make ours good fakes instead of coming from “whatever@cityname.securitytrainingcompany.blog.com” or some shit. It feels like they’re not even trying. Although I do work with one of the single dumbest people I’ve ever met, so maybe that’s to give her the teeeeniest chance at identifying it.

Probably the literal cleaners who come in to clean the building before/after hours.

Did you play any of the Dragon Age games? I’ve heard the combat is pretty similar, which is a bummer because that was the thing that kept me from continuing DA:O. I feel like I’d enjoy the story of both but can’t get past the actual gameplay.

Ugh I feel the same way about The Witcher. I tried 2 and 3 and just couldn’t get into it. The combat was not enjoyable and it felt really clunky to me. I actually tried 2 a couple of times because everyone raved and I thought maybe I was just missing something, but it wasn’t for me.
