@7_Stipend_Jackal Not really sure what you mean by “like Localshare”. Is that a specific piece of software, or do you just mean sharing files between two devices on a local network via whatever protocol?

I’ve played around with croc a while back just to test, seems okay.

@perishthethought You could very easily use #Lutris as a launcher for each game! Just set them up as you were launching a single game from the terminal. As far as a 3rd party GUI goes though, #RetroArch really is the most straight forward yer gonna find. Setting it up is not as huge an undertaking as it first appears. I’d be happy to help you get it configured if you need, just holler.

@SeekPie Sometimes different, sometimes similar. Look into different software you enjoy using and find out what’s needed. If it’s something you can provide, and you feel like doing so, go fer it.

@Secret300 I wouldn’t say it was hard. The replication part of matrix can get very big, very fast. If you’re not prepared for that, it could easily get out of hand.

@Secret300 This really depends heavily on what parts of #Discord you’re trying to replace, as nothing currently has a 1:1 similarity with it. #Matrix will likely get you most of what you want but self-hosting it can be quite a sizable task. #Mumble is an excellent choice if your main concern is voice rooms, text chat is not so great. The ““best”” option would probably be to mix mumble with xmpp, as both do what they’re designed to do very well and are also quite easy to maintain.

@jax It sucks you can’t subscribe to #PeerTube stuff from #Lemmy. Simply having the ability to pull hashtags into your feed would be a nice touch. Or just letting users subscribe to things via #RSS could help.

I comment on PeerTube stuff from #Friendica but don’t see any (dis)like counts and only some of the comments. If the video post is looked at from #Mastodon, it seems to display all the comments, #Pleroma shows the same limited few as Friendica, and #Misskey shows most of the comments seen on PeerTube. But none show any (dis)like counts from PeerTube, the ones they do show are limited to how likes are distributed for that software.

As far as Lemmy votes are concerned, they display and function quite nicely within Friendica. I shows me the same number of both up/down votes as likes/dislikes as I see if I look at them on Lemmy.

Maybe one day somebody will unlock the secret for full interoperability amongst all ActivityPub services. Till then, we’re just stuck trying to find ways around the limitations we have.
