PCR has been around since the 80s, though it has continued getting more efficient and cheaper
It is nice to generate generalizable code examples, to give me clues how stuff works. I find that my work (marine biogeochemistry) is obscure enough that there’s a certain level where I am still on my own. Which is a good sign for my future employability!
Some portions of the far right are allergic to being called “political”. Even outright Nazis often claim to be moderate. Part of the reason they end up having those beliefs is from a profound lack of awareness of self and others. They thus can convince themselves that they are the moderates, and everyone else is extreme
They keep you regular. Specifically your fps
That is interesting and seems much less wasteful! I have thought often of my time in the 2000s using my PS3 for Folding@Home. So many processor cycles being wasted on nonsense right now
Any proof of work coin is a no go for me
I really enjoyed it, and will return to it. But I put it down because it felt like doing chores. I will try again and try to focus on the scenery and story, which I do like a lot
Why is it clickbait? I don’t understand. The article explains the reasons. They don’t fit in the headline.
Yeah, these services don’t have to add much friction to trap vulnerable folks like the elderly. Obscure the cancel button under a couple menu levels and dark patterns and they have people trapped for life. It can be very insidious
Sigh, I wish there was a better repost notification. Maybe the third party app I use is the issue
But mostly I’ve started just monitoring dozens of RSS feeds with the Feeder RSS app (android)
I found it worked pretty well, seemed to understand my interests pretty well after a couple days, when I usually don’t feel that way, having tried many many similar apps. The chrome web view wasn’t ideal, but I use pihole which helped :)
Apple Fitness has logged either one skydive or 2000 flights of stairs
It’s only if you want to find it that it’s hard to find. You have to pretend you don’t care either way.
Twilio is under a lot of pressure from shareholders eager for more profit (CEO was just pushed out), so I figure this is just the start of a long wave of enshittification. I switched to Authenticator Pro (Android), which is much better in every way. Can backup between devices, has WearOS support, and a proper dark mode. I’d use bitwarden, but I hesitate to keep my TOTP keys in same place as my passwords
Which is ironic considering that fossil fuels have resulted in orders of magnitude more preventable deaths than nuclear. Bunker fuel is nasty stuff
If you have a significant other, they will discover said instances after about 5 minutes using the pihole and you’ll hear about it. I think it’s a kind of law of home networking.
Kind of wild how this guy feels entitled to have people pay him
