I remember that my brother acquired the full collection of every single song which had ever been on the top 20 list of songs for a national newspaper. It dated all the way back to the 60’s, which is ancient for my brother and I, both born around the early 90s. I never got close to listening to the full thing, but it was awesome to have a collection of songs which basically no one knew existed and be able to choose a random year and pick a popular song from then to listen to.

You could do pretty much the same thing now, but the fact that it’s so easily available and accesible kills a lot of the magic.

I never cared a lot. While I do notice the difference immediately, it never makes the experience differ in the long run. I have watched full length movies on the cover screen of my Samsung Zflip5 without feeling that I missed out on anything.

I have a nintendo switch which I have used a lot. Even though I have a nice 55" TV and a decent soundbar, I very rarely connect the switch to the TV. I much rather use it in handheld mode so I can sit in any angle in the sofa. I guess I value comfort a lot higher than high fidelity.

Fluent in Norwegian and English. Norwegian allows me to basically fully understand Swedish and Danish, but my mimicking/mocking of those languages does probably not count as languages I can speak.

I also have some very rusty german education which would probably allow me to be understood, but hardly enough to have a conversation.

I feel like recently developed games and apps expect the user to have a “moden” sized RAM, meaning that the decs don’t give a crap about optimizing RAM-usage.

It’s 100% nostalgia, and I hard refuse to ever touch that game again. I’m sure it’s terrible compared to my standards for games now. But the memories remain, and that’s fine.

I used to love Lego Racers. I knew all the tracks and shortcuts, and I knew exactly how to make my favorite racing car. I remember playing the game at home as well as at my friends’ houses, and I always made the same car design, as I was convinced it was the fastest. What a great game!

Similarly to Snot Flickerman, I also believe that this thread will be filled with comments about not being on twitter, as that seems to be a common demographic of lemmy.

And also similarly to Snot Flickerman, I’ll make use of this opportunity to become the very thing I resent in this thread by mentioning that I’m also not on twitter.

Not that this covers many cases, but a lot of appliances are running touch screens and a lack of non-visual indicators. Blind people could benefit from having an app with a screen reader to run the machine. Of course, this is just a patch for a problem which shouldn’t have existed in the first place.

It’s a bit of a mix. I think people generally say AI, but every source which aims at using Norwegian in a formally correct way are starting to adopt KI. Many radio hosts seem frustrated, as they are suddenly required by the producer to switch up an acronym they have been using for several years.

We have the same with EEA (european economic area, that part of EU which norway is a part of). It’s EØS here. It makes it convoluted to discuss, especially since EEA is mainly brought up in international subjects. And the actual words behind the acronym is never brought up, so the acronym serves mainly as a name, making the differentiation even more useless.
