Problem is you can’t milk $10000 out of the single player games like you can GaaS ones. Meaning it’s harder to pitch to investors.
Personally I can’t stand it and end up just avoiding AAA titles altogether because of it.

I played it a bit on Gamepass. It feels like it has the bones to be a great time loop game but doesn’t seem to put it all together.
Im glad i went in blind and turned off the map markers but at some point I realized I wasn’t having fun exploring and figuring out the events in the loop. Like you said the enemy variety sucks and I don’t like being randomly invaded when I’m trying to map things out.
Just started this one but Afterimage is becoming a big favorite of mine. A really great Metroidvania game.
Older, but also played Frostpunk. It’s a really great twist on a city building game. Highly recommended.
One odd ball I’ll throw out is Last Case of Benedict Fox. It’s a complete mess of a game, but the exploration and puzzles are a lot of fun. I never realized how much I want a metroidvania where you go around just solving puzzles. If LCBF just dropped all combat and focused on puzzle-solving it would have been a lot better.
Yeah I don’t think I’ve ever heard that term before in my life and I’ve been doing this for a while.
And I don’t think I ever wanna hear it again.
