Two days ago they sent an update to their TOS that they will require arbitration and to reply to their legal department to “opt out”.

Aren’t these the same guys who have an unenforced policy on minors using their platform? Gosh if they didn’t protect the kids then what’s with the change of heart now?

Maybe I misunderstand but the benefits of the IOT things is to access this stuff remotely, from your phone, from anywhere.
IoT devices are still tracking and reporting on you and your family.
I think the real point is that mechanical locks don’t track when you leave and enter your home like electronic ones do. Not whether they are better or worse than mechanical.

Which altruistic thing is it that the AI that pays your bills does? It appears to me that AI is used for acceleration of war, deceit, and theft and conglomeration of ideas and art with no unique thoughts or perspectives. The people who own the technology will use it to enrich themselves at the expense of those who can not afford it. This is what I mean.

While I don’t disagree with the statement around privacy in public, I would encourage you to temper that thought with the realization that when that was developed we did not have the ability to be everywhere at once with cameras or fly drones over people’s homes or track cellphones with GPS or use computers to process this information.
This information can and has been abused.
Maybe we should change our expectations to SOME privacy in public.
