Lived in a 1Br condo with one for 5 years. Didn’t have any major beef with mine.
Only issue was they didn’t allow anyone to install air conditioners in their units when I first moved in. Then they said they’d be allowing mini-splits soon, after which it took them 2 years to get that approved. Unfortunately they had designated locations where the condenser had to go, which for the unit I was in, was right next to the front door and kitchen window. I was all ready to purchase one until that detail came out…
Ended up toughing it out for the next year until I could afford to move out into a bigger house without an HOA. Now I’m happy to have full control over anything that goes on or through my roof, attic, and exterior walls.
“Hello, my name is Trevor. I am a vampire and…”
I am a vampire and what? I am a vampire and… here’s a million dollars?
Because meat tastes good, and browsers don’t taste like anything?
The HomePod, on the other hand, is not slated to get the new suite of features, with the company holding off for a new “AI-powered table-top robot.”
Well that sucks. Siri on HomePod is dumb as hell and really badly needs an update.
As much as I couldn’t stand Alexa’s constantly trying to sell me things, I must say she was way better at actually doing what I wanted.
A really nice joystick, throttle, and pedals + additional button boxes for flight simulators and space simulators.
Growing up I had the cheapest little joystick and always wanted something more, but it was nixed by my parents. Now I’ve got it!
It’s not the tax prep companies in this case. It’s companies like Uber spending millions on lobbying to ensure that their drivers are never considered their employees, and subject to protections that employment affords
Agree… but I live in America… so there’s basically no reasonable alternative
Yep definitely feeling this. I’m mostly into flight and space sims… so a niche within a niche. None of these communities made the move over to lemmy with me.
The app I’m running (Mlem) shows that you’re lemm.ee while the other RickRussell_CA is lemmy.world when I click on either of your names.
I think that’s an easy enough lift to sort it out, (though direct display might still be better).
It’s amazing what kinda bugs can be exposed in your system when your user base expands by orders of magnitude overnight
As cool as this decentralized approach to social platforms is, I have a hard time really seeing it going mainstream. There’s too many barriers to entry (both physical and conceptual) for the average user
Just downloaded it today… a bit barebones at the moment, but it’s a start!
So people tend to “live longer” where there’s poverty, rewards for reaching old age (pensions) and poor record keeping (e.g. birth certificates). Fascinating coincidences!!
