She needs to be sitting in a rocking chair somewhere knitting sweaters, not involved in any form of government beyond a local bingo committee. It’s a disgrace to have her in politics.

I would think in a way it’s like what happens with the music industry. Don’t get me wrong, that industry has its own problems, but for the vast majority of music, I can listen to it on Spotify, YT music, Apple Music, etc. I don’t need to sign up for Sony+ to listen to their artists, etc.
Same should have happened to the movie industry.
That’s exactly what I use them for. LED strips, ESP32 controllers, cables, ZigBee devices for home automation, etc.
Or follow the one good thing the music industry does… allow music across different platforms. I can listen to the same songs on YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple, etc. none of this “get the XYZ app to listen to a band, and another app to listen to others”.
I need that for my Roku. I may just write an automation in Home Assistant that will switch to whatever app I programmed if I press the Paramount+ button. Unfortunately that means I need to install that app on the Roku itself.
I use a piHole to block all my IoT devices from sending telemetry data. Roku devices especially, but it’s amazing how many IoT devices try to ping out.
It’s ok, whenever you get annoyed about his ego, just go watch the clip of Ole’ Bill trying to pontificate after his trip to space and Jeff Bezos cutting him off. The look on his face is so sad and frustrated.
Yeah, Altman is a complete ass and very full of himself. Not at all surprising.
Some security camera systems have this built in. They show snapshots of various times where you choose the total period, say 24 hours. Then you glance through the snapshots that are all displayed at once on the screen and click on the last one where your bike was still there. That will then “zoom in” the timeline and show another set of snapshots, though this time within a smaller total time window. Keep clicking on the last panel with the bike, and it will soon show you the clip of the bike being stolen.
Really helpful to find out when something changed.
In that vein, a remake of Sim Life using neural networks and all the latest “learning” and “evolving” tech.
I’d love to get a copy if you’d be willing to share it.
Are there any easy ways to auto purge stalled torrents (either after a certain amount of time, or if they’ve never seen a complete copy after some time?) I have most of the *arr suite and use qbittorrent. I recently installed qbit_manage, but I’m not sure how to use it yet.
Perhaps, but withholding footage is not a good look. Good thing the police never withholds foota… oh
Not sure how this is emptily shilling though. Am I paying for a service? Yes. Will I stop paying for a service if they start “refusing features?” Also yes.
Like I said in another comment, I was happy with Netflix back in the day, but now, nope. I have self hosted alternatives.
If a service is not worth it for me, I stop paying. Different people have that line at different levels, and for me, today’s Spotify Premium is worth it. In the future it may not be.
No need to be so hostile.
To each their own. For me, I really like the Discover Weekly/Daily features to discover new music and I can’t see how I would ever “already have MP3s of all the good music” since that’s an ever changing set. Heck, I still have a ton of old mp3s I used to rip and/or download, but I haven’t listened to them in a while.
I would gladly pay for a similar AYCE movie subscription, but I refuse to sign up for a ton of different services and play the “which service is that movie on again?” game. Instead it’s a very different approach for me.
I have the family premium plan and honestly love it. I haven’t downloaded an mp3 in years because Spotify is so convenient. As far as subscription services go, this one is top tier for me.
Now when we look at movie streaming… well that’s what the music streaming could have been like. What an absolute mess.
Different product. I use IDrive as well since it has a native Synology app.
FYI, my Pi4 has more than enough cpu and memory to run Home Assistant with a couple hundred devices.
That’s where a properly functioning government would be able to step in. Parking lot taxes are going up x%, but if you install solar panels, you get an x% tax break.
That and add a steep tax for single purpose solar fields.
PiHole, Plex and the related “*arr” apps. I also self-host my home automation platform (Home Assistant).
