Live service games have always kinda rubbed me the wrong way, and that’s past just the obviously predatory stuff. I like to hop around from game to game to game. But the live service games are all like “what about the daily log in bonuses and weekly challenges?” I can ignore that, but it still bothers me how much they try to badger you into being obligated to play. Give me a regular old single player game any day of the week.
That being said, I suspect that as time goes on, AAA single player games are going to be harder and harder to find. Multiplayer is simply where the money is(and where the players are), and in this stupid “perpetual growth no matter what” economy, that’s all the suits will pay money for. Thankfully, we still have indies making great stuff.
If something’s going to try to grab my attention, it had better be worth my while. I block as many notifications as I can, both on my phone and my computer. I also try to avoid using apps for things unless I have to.
As nice as it would be to see people ditch Threads for the Fediverse, I suspect the number of people who will actually do that would be infinitesimally small. The power of inertia is very, very strong.
It’s less disinterest and more hostility. The Lemmy devs straight up don’t want us here. Even if they fix the moderation issues, I don’t think it’s a great idea to stay on the platform in the long term.
I’ll never use a Meta/Facebook product if I can help it. They’re pure evil.
That’s so cool! The original Super Mario Maker is what made me get a Wii U, and I obsessed over that game for a couple years. I made a few levels that were fairly well regarded, too! Funnily enough, I’ve barely touched the second one.
I’ll list some of my favorites that haven’t been posted yet:
-TimeSplitters 2 and Future Perfect
-Onimusha series
-Dynasty Warriors series
-Soulcalibur II and III
-Tekken(any of them)
-Burnout 3
-OutRun 2006 Coast2Coast
-Simpsons Hit and Run
-Dark Cloud I and II
-Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
-Ace Combat 4
Pretty crappy, really, I’ve been laid low with what is most likely a flu since Tuesday. I’m still sick, but I think I’m getting better now. At least it doesn’t seem to be covid(I took two tests and both came back negative).
That’s a classic right there.
I really hope it was Billy that caved and not TG. Dude really is awful in quite a few ways.
If anyone wants a ridiculously long deep dive on the Billy Mitchell stuff(and is willing to read instead of watching a video), I recommend checking out this. There’s also on that website a huge deep dive into the story about his alleged “perfect Pacman” run, and his history of gaslighting the classic gaming community into thinking he was the greatest gamer ever.
I couldn’t get past the second area(I think?)of Cuphead, there was a dragon boss that was just a wall for me.
This isn’t surprising in the least. They’ve been pushing more and more ads recently; trying to get streamers to run them more often. I hate ads, so I have always opted for a short pre-roll so that when its done, viewers won’t have to worry about ads anymore. But I think Twitch will eventually force streamers to run ads every half hour, no matter how many people they scare off.
I got an entirely new gaming rig up and running (Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Radeon RX 6700) so I thought I’d grab a couple more recent games to push it a bit, as I had a potato before. Been having a lot of fun with Forza Horizon 5 and the World Tour mode of Street Fighter 6. Thinking about maining Juri in SF6, she’s fun to play.
Sometimes you just need to throw some hands to prevent worse violence down the line. It isn’t a perfect world and we’re a bunch of upjumped apes. I’m not saying we shouldn’t try to be better than that, but we should at least be realistic about the hand we’ve been dealt. That being said, perhaps you’re right about going the restorative justice route. I just worry because, this is getting normalized way past what anyone should feel comfortable about. Like, I feel we should do everything we can to prevent people from becoming Nazis. If naming and shaming deters people from going down that rabbit hole, I think we at least have to consider it.
In 99% of cases, you would be correct. However, these are Neo-Nazis we’re talking about here. Like, if they got their way, I’d be dead, so so would a lot of other innocent people. Their ideology has caused unspeakable horrors, and it’ll happen again if we let our guard down. There has to be a social cost to being a Nazi. Like, this shit is getting way too close to the right wing mainstream. This isn’t a matter of just “people we don’t like”. They’re dangerous. Name them. Shame them. Ruin their lives. Force their evil ideology back into the deep, dark fringes where it belongs.
It’s alright, just basically Twitter 2. It’s useful for some things. A lot of creatives chose to migrate there, which is nice so that I can network with fellow Twitch streamers and keep up with news on the platform. As much as I like Mastodon, I just wasn’t getting that there. It’s also nice that a bunch of artists I used to follow are there.
Beehaw’s admins have been trying to address some of those issues.
Yeah, I think I’ll pass. The Raspberry Pi people hired a former police officer who used their stuff in hidden surveillance. Then when people called them out on it on Twitter, Pi blocked those who did. https://petapixel.com/2022/12/09/raspberry-pi-under-fire-by-creators-who-are-upset-it-hired-a-former-cop/
Been on that F-Zero 99 grind. Got myself up to A- rank, so I’m not doing too badly. :)
This is a beehaw community you’re posting on. We expect you to bee nice here.
