I’m holy fool
Same here. It’s simply not as active as Reddit, obviously. But I found that I was wasting way too much time on Reddit anyway. Infinity was still working for free this whole time, which was the 3pa I used for years, but I still deleted it about a week ago. My sub feed was way less active and the all page was even worse than usual with 80% just aita kind of text posts. I’m on lemmy maybe 30 minutes a day, but that’s a good thing for me.
Yeah. To me it’s not even a fun philosophical exercise like thinking about what came before the big bang or if there is anything ‘outside’ of the universe. I feel like it’s a debate from before modern physics. Like, 500 years ago there was a lively debate on the matter of free will in a religious context. And I guess the only way to still believe in free will and its contradiction with the laws of nature is when you believe in God. But for everyone else it’s just so damn obvious free will can’t exist and it’s just human ego wanting to pretend we have control. ‘Free will doesn’t exist’ is as obvious and unimpactful of a fact to me as 2+2=4.
Cool so you have awareness of and/or control over the quantum particles that make up the baryons that make up the matter of your brain? No? Then you don’t have free will.
There’s also a third group of people who find the absence of free will neither comforting nor terrifying, but just don’t give a fuck. The absence of free will is just a simple fact, and it doesn’t have any impact on my life whatsoever. I’m still doing what I was always gonna do and my brain will still produce the feeling that I’m in control of myself and my life, just like everyone else. I don’t understand what there is to even have feelings about on the matter.
They aren’t
I don’t own anything made of silk but I believe you
Yeah, the only thing you gotta be careful with is wool, because that seriously shrinks like crazy with anything over 20°C. Everything else just goes on 30-40°C, good luck.
I definitely do. My dumb-dumb brain doesn’t really get the whole neurotransmitter thing, but as stingy as it is with dopamine and nor-adrenaline, as generous it is with endorphins. Oh, you’re 5 minutes into your cardio warm-up of your hour long work-out? Enjoy this heap of endorphins for the next 2 hours. I feel good, it’s extremely meditative because thoughts are just on pause, I love getting stronger and more in shape, and I always go in the sauna at the end of my work-out which is a huge motivator before going and makes it all even better at the end. I always walk out of the gym completely zen and satisfied.
If you don’t get such an easy endorphin rush, I don’t know what to do. I can imagine it would suck in that case.
I have a friend who watches entire movies on his phone. It appalls me, but a lot of people do it.
I don’t get how they would snag more seats in an election right after the ridiculous domination of BBB though? Those people are still high on that win and see a giant chance to take way more political power. If that was the intention they should’ve waited at least a few more months or a year for that to die down a little or maybe even see some failures in the provinces here and there for BBB coalitions. I’m honestly scared as shit that BBB is now gonna be huge in the Tweede Kamer as well and we’ll have a coalition of BBB, PVV and CDA or some other nightmare shit.
I only do it immediately when I have very few dishes. Like for breakfast I only use a knife, a spoon and a bowl, that gets washed immediately, or a plate and a knife for lunch. When I’ve cooked with multiple pans for dinner, I’ll do it the next day. But it’s still nice that there’s no pile-up of dishes for those little things, and it takes 30 seconds, so why not.
I don’t dislike music, but I do view it as something very situational. I only listen to music when I’m going somewhere by bike or foot or when I’m working out. I blame my 4 years of being a mail carrier for creating this 1 to 1 connection between moving and listening to music. I never put on music when I’m home. But I dislike ‘background’ anything in general. I’ve never in my life put on a movie, TV show or podcast as ‘something to listen to in the background’. That’s baffling to me. Music is the same I guess. If I’m home it’s automatically background because I’m not gonna sit om my couch and stare at a wall while I listen to music. While if I’m working out or going somewhere I can intentionally listen.
I’m a historian and I would gladly talk at length to anyone about my particular fascination of the moment, no matter what they took or how high they are. I think I would even enjoy it more if a person was on psychedelics because they are way more open-minded and curious than sober people.
The context is it’s funny
