  • I’m European and I have mixed feelings about the US.

There are some great sceneries, nice peoples and my accent does wonders there. I like its smaller towns and countryside.

But at the same I hate its cities. You can see the most widen gap between poverty and absurdly rich peoples in the same street. You can have a wonderful avenue and once in the back alley it looks like third world. I’ve never seen that many weird people than in the us. There’s too much violence and capitalism. And don’t get me on the fucking tipping culture.

  • I’ve read it was just to shit with Microsoft by announcing that computers were tools of the past for gaming AND non gaming (and earn money).

Pushing Microsoft to invest billions to develop the Xbox on Windows (which ultimately did not run on windows) to shit with Sony, and earn money…

  • An arcade center VR headset.

This was in the 90s or early 2000 when VR was non existent to consumers. During holidays visiting the US we ended up in this arcade center, probably in LA, where they had circled booths with an old FPS VR game that you play standing up. The headset looked like a helmet and was plugged from the top.

During my game, I turned on myself (360 no scope style) so much and always in the same direction that the cables got tangled and finally broke, probably with a little spark and some electrical sound. Game over.

As a French preteen, my English was bad and all I remember is the “shiiiiiiit” the worker said when he looked at the headset and cables.

    Sorry buddy 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • I’m not the audience for Mac gaming but I discovered that my “work dedicated” Mac mini M2 pro is an amazing machine for afk flying 14h flights on Xplane12. Specially during summer heat waves where the windows gaming rig is just a huge space heater.

So yeah I believe the target is people wanting only one rig to do everything but still use MacOS as a daily. Probably those with a MacBookPro M3-something. You could already do it with streaming, now with the M chips you can play AAA locally as well.

  • Ziggurat is correct. The flight ABD4592 was a cargo B747 (registration TF-AMM)

I can’t find cabin pictures but those cargo are loaded with huge pallets, for live animals it’s the same type but adapted, kind of a big metal box but equipped with a door, probably a window and some food/water. At least one human is supervising the cabin but it could be more according to regulations (if it’s the same as for pax) or simply how much the client is willing to pay ?

So the pilots knew it via the aircraft intercom. There’s no chance they would have heard the horse in a 30 years old 747 nor feel any change of center of gravity, specifically on autopilot at cruise level.

Fun fact, the company is bragging about being the Iron Maiden or Olympic flame carrier

  • This book This Naked Mind helped me a lot to quit alcohol.

But it was my own decision, not coming from someone else.

Sadly, the stop drinking community on Lemmy is non existent or dead so you have to check the original r/stopdrinking on Reddit. Even if we left that place, this sub is just awesome, packed with useful resources and is something really hard to find elsewhere, you won’t even have to post, just start by reading the sidebar and wiki.

Good luck, my problem with alcohol cost me my 13 years marriage but I got out of it mostly thanks to that subreddit, so anything is possible.

  • Lille, what we call “Les ch’tis” so the 59th department.

I don’t feel like Corsica is considered inbred but maybe because they are noisier (wannabe independent and former terrorists) and probably because it’s a beautiful sunny vacation area.

North doesn’t attract that much tourists even if it is in fact a cool area. That might change with the yearly heatwaves.
