  • That’s fair, and I’m glad you’re in a part of the world that allows you to express yourself freely.

If being on the stage, dressing different, or playing the drums is something you want to go at, I’d say do it. You won’t know it until you’re in it. There will be some aspects you like, and some you won’t. What you perceive and what actually is, are often different.

I’ve always found that the things I excel at, are the things I’m genuinely interested in. And when I follow those paths for a while, they all have similar lessons. It’s like an all rivers lead to the ocean kinda thing.

Counter intuitively though, I also feel more liberated when I’m disciplined about getting little goals done on those paths. When I follow my exact, in the moment emotions, it usually leads me to addiction and forms of laziness. Just gotta push through the bullshit for a bit lol. “Beauty stems from pain” sort of fits with what I’m saying here. Might not be the same for everyone though, but for the past few years I’ve been excited to get out of bed lol.

Anyways, listen to your heart and you’ll feel full. Good luck!

  • Yeah I have one set up - it’s sorta meh.

Most ads from things you look at can be stopped by just an ad blocker plugin for the browser (uBlock Origin). The Pi can’t stop ads when they come directly from the sever of the company you’re viewing (like from YouTube or Facebook ads).

The Pi just has a library of known advertising domains and doesn’t let those past the router, but because the major corps like YouTube don’t use 3rd party domains, the Pi won’t stop it.

For the TV scenario here id recommend just installing a new Linux based OS on it as this would be just as good as the streaming device, but free.

Well yeah, as much as I dislike apple, the majority of Google’s income comes from advertising - and to be the best at it, they need to have more personal data than everyone else, which = lots of tracking.

How do we open source hardware and make it competitive? If we figure that out, maybe we can break free of yet another 2 party system we’re creating lol

  • Where’s our different radios and other things? They just keep adding more camera lenses, and MORE MEGAPIXELS.

Nothing innovative or useful, and now we’re forced to buy more shit (adapters) to make other things we already have, work with our phones.

I’ll stick with my “mid grade” phone that does all of the same things, but also connects to 3.5mm

PS. This mid grade phone also has USB C if I really wanted a custom DAC, and alternatively I can also charge and listen to things at the same time, with no extra cost
