Admittedly I don’t use the D-pad all that much - does it not register inputs well? I guess it’s pretty important if you’re playing a fighting or retro game that require precise inputs. For the games I’ve played, it hasn’t been an issue.

No the pro controller doesn’t have hall effect sticks, but I’ve not experienced any drift. I did take it apart once to clean the insides however.
I had no end of problems with the joy cons, and have replaced those sticks with hall effect ones. Since doing that I’ve not had any problems, touch wood!
To be fair I’ve had the pro controller for several years and it has held up really well. Really ergonomic and the vibration’s good, plus it has gyro. Perfect for my needs on Switch. I think it was worth what I paid.
The 8Bitdo Pro+ has been great - works really well with my Steam Deck and Switch. Sounds like the Pro 2 is the superior version with hall effect sticks.
The Switch Pro controller has always been good too. And the DualSense is really neat with the haptics and adaptive triggers - expensive, but not that much more than a Pro controller surprisingly.
I love coffee but nowadays I tend to drink tea a lot more. I don’t like the taste of instant coffee, and that’s all I can get at work - so I stick to tea. I also can’t handle caffeine as well as I used to, so I have decaff.
At home I’ve got a nice coffee machine. I buy decaff beans and grind them - it’s all about the taste for me.
Oh that’s neat! I’ve played Prime 1 before so if I fancy playing it again I’ll try this out. Prime 2 and 3 I’ve never played (well, I did get a little ways into 3 on Wii years back - but I’m planning to start from scratch). Thank goodness for Primehack!
I do love going back to older games! The Steam Deck is particularly great for that. Will take me years to catch up on everything I want to play 😅
I’ve been meaning to play FFIX, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, FF7 Rebirth, Baten Kaitos, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Persona 3 Reload to name a few!
That’s a lot of RPG to get through!
No nothing’s been announced. I’ll probably just emulate them
I recently started Digimon Cyber Sleuth! I’ve never played a Digimon game before but this one has been fun so far. There definitely seems to be more of a push to constantly evolve your mons than Pokémon.
I’ve never played the Mario & Luigi RPG games, but this looks fun. The artstyle is really charming!
Ohhh looks beautiful! I hope it’s good after all the delays. Reminds me, I need to play Prime 2 and 3…
Yeah I think you’re right. Not enough notice for a 2024 release.
So just to be clear - are you predicting that this new Switch will release in the window just before xmas 2024, as announcing a new console now and not releasing it for a while is tantamount to shooting their christmas sales for the original console in the foot?
If so I guess it depends - will the new console be backwards compatible? If so, people will likely continue to buy games now in the knowledge that they can upgrade later on. And there have been rumours of a new Switch for a while. I suspect most people who wanted an OLED Switch by now would’ve got one. I feel like they could announce the console now and release it after a year or two, without hurting themselves too badly.
Ohh interesting! Wonder if it’s planned to release in 2025? Excited to find out more.
Yes I think you’re right about Pokémon. But Nintendo does often keep things under wraps until the last minute. Maybe we’ll hear something about Metroid a few months prior to the release of the new console? It would make sense to keep a heavy hitter like that up their sleeve.
I think slowing down on first party releases is natural at the end of any generation - once dev kits are available it just makes financial sense for new games to be built on the upcoming hardware.
Will Nintendo reduce the price of the current Switch’s games? I doubt it (at least any time soon). Unlike the Wii U at the end of its lifespan, the Switch is still popular and people are still buying games like BOTW. And working on the assumption that there will be backwards compatibility, it wouldn’t be consistent with Nintendo’s strategy to reduce prices now.
I could see the new Metroid Prime being a Switch 2 launch title, and maybe they’ve been working on something like Odyssey 2 for that purpose. I doubt we’ll see another Animal Crossing or Smash game for a while.
I’m sure it’s not a bad game - it just felt very generic from the demo. Definitely worth trying the demo on Steam if you can.
I feel like the Game Boy Camera was quite unique at the time, because not many people had cameras back then. Nowadays nearly everyone has access to a camera on smart devices that are in all likelihood significantly better quality than something Nintendo could affordably release as a peripheral. What benefit would there be to a Nintendo specific product?
It’s a cute idea but realistically I don’t see it happening. There’s nothing stopping you from making videos on your phone and playing around with some free/open source video editing software though!
