It’s excruciatingly easy to side load on android, to the point where it is outright dangerous for laymen.
All it will take is a 30s tiktok showing how to side load and they’re done, tech literate or not

I’m very sorry for your bad user experience! What you’ve described, sounds like some basic user errors which would’ve been easily solved by sticking to good modeling practices
The most egregious issue I had was in trying to loft between two faces, such that the curve between the faces was a 3D one.
In Fusion360, it’s pretty damn simple, you click the first face, ctrl+ click the second, then select the loft option. Then it’s pretty much done.
In FreeCad/Ondsel, in trying to look up a tutorial to see how such an operation is normally done, the only tutorial that got me remotely close was this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fv53D00KdGQ
Following the tutorial would lead to errors, crashes, and even if it had worked, it is such a painful way to do this operation.
So this isn’t simply an issue with bad modeling practices. Maybe it’s a terrible tutorial and there is better options out there. But the ease in which it is possible to do this task in Fusion360 should be the gold standard.
They fundamentally solve the Topo-Naming-Problem I propose to try again after the next release.
I’m not super familiar with that problem, as it has been a minute. But I might try to give it another go at some point.
I don`t know the #Onsel fork. In what way does it differ from #Freecad or Freecad from #realthunder?
From a user perspective, it has a much more friendly UI in my opinion. When you click on an object, it displays a list of all possible actions you can take with said object. That to me was a huge upgrade over the base FreeCad implementation.
Fusion360
Tried out FreeCad/Ondsel, and just couldn’t get it to cooperate. Trying to do even basic changes would constantly result in errors/crashes. I spent maybe two weeks trying to make a single model. Then I tried making the same model in Fusion360 and was done in an half an hour. Granted, there is a huge difference in experience level here between these pieces of software, but still.
So I think my best bet for now is a jailbroken copy of Fusion360.
That works too. There are so many ways to get around this.

And for those uses they aren’t getting phased out:
Surprisingly, there is a whole slew of exempt special-purpose bulbs that will continue to be manufactured, according to the Energy Department. Here’s what manufacturers can still build and stores can continue selling:
Appliance lamps, including fridge and oven lights
Black lights
Bug lamps
Colored lamps
Infrared lamps
Left-handed thread lamps
Plant lights
Floodlights
Reflector lamps
Showcase lamps
Traffic signals
Some other specialty lights, including marine lamps and some odd-sized bulbs
Tell me your government is fundamentally broken without telling me…
Exactly. From this particular article/policy:
Similarly, it projects that the rules could cut carbon emissions by 222 million metric tons over the next 30 years.
If the death penalty exists and corps are people, why aren’t companies being executed?
Yes so we need to understand it.
Sure. I never said we shouldn’t understand it.
Understanding != continued existence.
But with that said, capitalism has proven itself to be unsustainable and in need of replacement. The longer we take to replace it the worse things are going to be.
Feudalism was once the building blocks upon which we all stood.
“Thing could be worse” is not a valid argument against improving things.

This guys chair is fucking legendary.
They do have a profit motive, because meta is in competition with lemmy for people’s time and attention. The more attention/time/views meta gets, the better for them. So it is in their interest to find a way to create their own instance, make it the most popular one, and then use that popularity to shut out all other instances, effectively killing them.

What’s with all the hate about federating with Threads? I thought people would be happy to hear a big player is coming to the fediverse that’s going to bring a bunch of people with it.
It’s because corporations will embrace, extend, and extinguish.

Allowing corporations to have any level of control will result in this place dying.
The building manager, Oscar, was recently put in charge of the whole department/building because things weren’t working out well. Well it got worse under Oscar. First he made a push to end working from home, and then he got into so many arguments and fights with my boss Theo. It didn’t take long for Theo to say fuck it and leave, which is when things got worse.
For a 2 month period or so, our entire team of like 13 people were in limbo with no direction. Oscar temporarily took control of our team until he found a replacement. And in that time he constantly was grilling us for answers about what our team did and how it worked. Not fun. A little bit later he fired two people off our team.
We then got a replacement manager, David. He’s not the best manager, but he’s not the worst. He struggles to comprehend what our team does, but he trusts that we know enough to get by with a little bit of direction on what project we should be working on. Another 2 people left over the course of a few months on their own.
Then in March, Oscar fired about 30 people across the department for “budget” reasons. From what I heard, the company lost a shit load of money due to all the project delays. Those delays have only gotten worse now that morale is in the garbage. Nobody wants to work hard at a place they fear they will be fired from at any moment while constantly being interrogated by Oscar. Some more people left on their own over the following months.
Cut to today, and there are 5 people left on the team I’m in. And I put my two weeks notice in because I got a better job. I don’t know what kind of shit show it’s gonna turn into, or what’s gonna happen when there is nobody left on my team. But on my team at least, every member has been looking for the door, and it’s been a race to not be the last person still working there.
So yeah, if your a manager, maybe don’t interrogate people and make people fear for their livelihoods.
Yup. And it’s been growing worse.
It’s to the point where I’ve had serious thoughts about whether I will be safe living here. My girlfriend is from a different country, so if things get bad I’m going to go with her back to her home.
While both are bad, fascism is the current problem.
It’s kinda like being in the middle of a forest fire and saying “it’s natural disaster you should really be afraid of. When there is a disaster, does it really matter if it is a forest fire or an earthquake?”
Saying that when the current problem is a forest fire kind of misses the point.
If somebody gets access to your system, they could use that to blackmail you, and/or frame you for distributing said media.
“Give us $X, or we leak and distribute Y media on your behalf, and you will get sued by the corporate goons for shit loads of money”
The only real solution is to completely overhaul IP law, and/or nationalizing funding for the arts. If we’re gonna keep corps that own/produce media, then they should have a very short and limited amount of time to distribute it before it becomes common property of the people.
