The Shadows, the Centauri and the PSI Corps are introduced as “bad guys” but gain a lot of positive aspects during the show without becoming “good guys”. The Nightwatch and the Earth Governement under president Clark are “bad guys” – but quite a few of there supporters/members become important “good” characters, like Zach Allan, Elizabeth Lochley or Susanna Luchenko.

That’s my point about the Babylon 5 series – they deconstruct the good guy/bad guy meme. Mostly.

Well, I did read their 2023 Party Program, and I’m afraid it’s pretty polished to appear mainstream. I was shocked on how many points appealed to me on first glance, like plebiscites, the prohibition for judges to be affiliated with a political party, universal basic income or transparent financing of political parties.

You have to actually study it, interpret it with their mindset in mind and compare it to the populist playbook used in countries like Italy, Hungary or Poland to detect the underlying fascism. It’s a shiny piece of deception.

Sorry for the downvotes. To be able to be naked in front of strangers you need to be able to appreciate yourself, your body and your sexuality and you must be able to give yourself a feeling of security. If any of these points are lacking – as with most people – clothing will help you to compensate this lack.

Weird and counterintuitive as it might be, being naked not in front of, but together with strangers is a good way to bolster self-esteem. It can be very wholesome to experience firsthand that your body is 100 % avarage and are not body shamed despite of nudity.

There is no official proper indoor temperature, but the courts settled at > 20 °C in the day and > 18 °C in the night as “normal”. If it’s not possible to achieve this temperature, the tenant has the right to withhold part of the rent as long as the heating is not fixed. Well – no. Not for all people. While “blue balls” are a myth, bad mood, emotional instability and even aching genitals are at least for some people consequences of sex withdrawal. Craving does exist as well.

Well — actually I haven’t met any psychotherapist who doubts that there are people with non-substance related addictions. I have no experience with sexual addiction myself – only met a couple of patients who claimed to have overcome it – but I did work with patients with eating disorders, which we viewed and treated as addiction, and with pathological gambling, which is viewed as an addiction as well.

Ok – so far to the existence of “mental addiction”.

Regarding “porn addiction”, I agree, that a habit has to meet the criteria for addiction. So I agree someone isn’t addicted to masturbation/porn

unless you’re doing things like masturbating at your desk at work 3-4 times/day, or needing to pull your car over on the way to work to compulsively masturbate.

You mean, you haven’t met someone with a mental addiction yet.

But — you are technically correct, indeed.

In ICD 10 the disorders that are commonly regarded as mental addictions are classified not as addiction, but as eating disorders, habit and impulse disorders and disorders of sexual preference. Don’t know whether I missed any.

BTW, Substance-related addiction is classified as mental and behaviour disorder due to psychoactive use. So, technically, “addiction” does not exist at all.

I can use the same tools/scripts on my phone that I use on desktop (using mostly terminal apps there, too)
