Pipes is a great way to view YT content without logging in. No ads, clean interface, and you can log in to save playlists via cookies on your local machine, so no interaction with the server. It doesn’t use the YouTube API, so Google can’t say much.
I’m able to not only understand, but empathize with the OP. I don’t like cats and I’d never own one. I completely understand where they’re coming from. I was simply challenging their preconceived notion that all dogs (or cats) fit in one box.
Sounds like you’re painting all dogs with a brush dipped in your experiences. I can completely understand that. I also don’t like those situations. They stress me out and make for an uncomfortable visit. I’ve had my backpack destroyed by a Frenchie, slobber on my clothes from a great Dane, conversations interrupted by a Yorkie, and staffie that just made me nervous.
At the same time, I grew up with a Shiba Inu, and I now have my own Shiba. He’s quiet, never begs, requires very little of me, and lays down quietly when guests are over. He loves people and is incredibly protective. It took quite a bit of training and patience, but I’m extremely proud of the good boy he’s turned into.
Yes, I love my dog and I’m not expecting you to, but I am asking you to be open minded to different experiences. There are good and bad owners while there are also compatible dog breeds. If aomwone has a border collie in an apartment, it will destroy everything. Same could be said for a Pomeranian that’s understimulated.
I respect your opinion and hope that you can one day see the good side of dogs and the companionship they bring into people’s lives. While it may not be something in your story, for others it may be a necessary part of their day.

Nailed it. I’m curious to see how that turns out. I love the idea that a user, community, or entire instance can be blocked to keep a higher standard of discussion.
I mean, if those points could buy marshmallows or something, that’s worth gloating. Otherwise, it’s an odd pursuit and use of time. I suppose it could be a form of primal resource hoarding, in a way.
My understanding is that the fake internet points were once a motivator, but with enough karma, an account could be auctioned off and used to post bot content while ranking high in the Reddit algorithms.
I think that once people see Lemmy as a means to have genuine conversations, that’s what’s going to stick. Heck, this is the most active I’ve even been across any platform. I’ve fired up a few communities and I’m engaging after almost 15 years lurking.
It’s a small enough community that I feel I’m making an impact. That’s why I’m sticking around and ditching my Reddit account.
So far, I’ve found conversation here to be rather civil. I imagine it’s due to good moderation, a small user base, and no bots. Enjoy the peace and quiet for the time being, but be sure to report any of that stuff to the mods.

I have this one for Lemmy, and another one for other services (mastadon, pixelfed, peertube, etc). I’ll access Lemmy from the jerboa app, and all the other services from Fedilab for Android

Linux Mint 21.2. it’s a solid OS and supports all the games I like to play. I started and ran a business on it as well, so I have no neee for windows anymore besides proprietary software and hardware. I just dual boot in those cases.
