Ok, made an account(used a temp email). Nothing exquisite, just being able to switch between light and dark mode. I expected an option to set the toggle to follow device default after making an account and signing in.
Doesn’t even remember which mode was toggled during the previous sign in.
I just want them to follow system default for guest user(s).
they probably require an account because they have a system set up in a way where it’s mostly a server-side app and ui settings are only stored on the server
This makes more sense for signed in user(s).
No dark mode unless you register, is what I consider to be a asshole design choice.
Sorry I didn’t mean any negatively towards you there.
I took your previous comment to be a critic of Dexerto. Not towards me. No apology needed.
Thanks for warning me about their quality, its now on my blocklist too.
Not a regular visitor, so can’t say anything about there content. There was a discussion in the piracy community about the article, so went there to read it: https://www.dexerto.com/tv-movies/godzilla-minus-one-most-pirated-movie-2696285/
Ars dark mode switching is infuriating, not an asshole design choice like Dexerto here
Be me,
Click on an article link in rss feed.Open in browser(in dark mode)
Ars technica doesn’t change its theme.
Open the menu to switch theme, click on dark mode.
Goes to the homepage in dark mode.
Go back to rss reader click that link again.
Probably a ban evasion measure linked to your IP. Try changing your IP address and then comment, might work.

Comment is a year old,so don’t know how much has changed in UBo.
Link to the comment(reddit):https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/s/leJRcf3ePt
I use(and recommend) both for the best user experience.UBlock origin’s element zapper feature has changed my life.
An adblocker in this day and time is must for internet usage.
So basically reddit gets a dollar on every gold purchased. The contributor who is (let’s check the prerequisites)in good standing, completed a kyc,has enough karma, and minimum 10 gold to cash gets a whopping 1 dollar per gold.
So, provide a good answer, get traffic to the site and reddit will shows ads on it and also take a cut from any money given to the contributor(s).
I didn’t think reddit could go any lower.Since this is a new low,I am curious how much is this going to ruin reddit(experience).
Price gouging and corporate greed basically.
Never “UBlock” always use “UBlock Origin”.“UBlock origin” is way better(filters) than UBlock(which has an accepted ads program, also owned by Adblock Plus). Its available for Firefox android.
For more info on “UBlock” vs “UBlock origin” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UBlock_Origin#History
Trust me, you don’t want to visit that website (company). Its sales and marketing methods are scam at best.

emphasis added by me From the article:
The man was investigated after an airline “reported concerns about a suspicious Wi-Fi network identified by its employees during a domestic flight.”
It’s alleged the accused’s collection of kit was used to create Wi-Fi hotspots with SSIDs confusingly similar to those airlines operate for in-flight access to the internet or streamed entertainment. Airport Wi-Fi was also targeted, and the AFP also found evidence of similar activities “at locations linked to the man’s previous employment.”
Wherever the accused’s rig ran, when users logged in to the network, they were asked to provide credentials. The AFP alleges that details such as email addresses and passwords were saved to the suspect’s devices.
The charges laid against the man concern unauthorized access to devices and dishonest dealings. None of the charges laid suggest the accused used the data he allegedly accessed.
However three charges of “possession or control of data with the intent to commit a serious offence” suggest the alleged perp was alive to the possibilities of using the data for nefarious purposes.
