The problem with RTFM is that TFM often does not cover the problem, and broader knowledge of the OS is required. You can’t expect every app to come with a manual that covers how the entire OS works, but that knowledge is often required to get work done in Linux.

People familiar with the guts of Linux or Windows will encounter these kinds of outside-the-instructions problems and know from experience what arcane setting to change or what 3rd party software needs to be installed before the procedures written in the manual will work as expected.

IMO, the Windows GUI lowers the bar to begin trial-and-error learning and makes the learning process faster.

Exactly. OP’s meme makes no sense to me. My experience has been that using Linux is a never ending series of file not found and access denied errors.

X4 fails because of its controls too. Imagine making a flight sim where you can’t invert the Y axis, or an FPS where the shift key can’t be bound to sprint.

That’s double the cost per page versus a good laser printer even when it works right, but inkjet cartridges will dry out and clog if you don’t use them for a few days so they rarely work right.

OkiData makes good business class printers too. The upfront cost is high, but the cost per page is low, so if you’re printing high volume then it’s cheaper overall.

Which is why all HP brand printers get filtered out of my search results when looking for a new printer. Won’t even consider buying one at any price.

Nothing works without extended fiddling. While fiddling, nothing works the way the manual says it should. Googling for solutions gets results that are terminal commands than don’t do what the poster says they should.

Microsoft sucks, but Windows programs work as expected 95% of the time. Linux programs don’t work at all 75% of the time, even after extensive reading and extended periods of time wasted fucking around with fixes proposed by the internet.
