Let Israel finish the fight!
Let Israel finish the fight!
Looks like the enshitification of Reddit is about to accelerate. I barely use it anymore, but I kept my two ten year + old accounts intact (one for porn one for legit posts). I’ll probably nuke my non-porn account soon.
The U.S. has a very robust hacking capability, we just don’t advertise it and we concentrate on shutting down or infiltrating critical infrastructure in times of war or espionage.
Instead of hacking China to steal industrial secrets, we hack them to see if we could say open or close all the floodgates at the 3 Gorges Damn… China hacks us to steal state and industrial secrets, though they are now starting to focus on infrastructure.
You know that remote start is a thing for ICE vehicles too right?
Terrible metrics are used by many companies which encourage short term profits over the long term health of the organization. I’ve seen managers make decisions to cut expenses which look good on a P&L in the short term but have terrible consequences for the organization that only become apparent two or three years later. Usually after the person who made the decision has collected their bonus and moved onto another organization.
The sad thing is those people are promoted or recruited over more stead fast leaders who can actually grow an organization because their metrics look good.
UV light is regularly used on HVAC systems and water purification systems.
There are systems used in hospitals that are automated which will roll into an empty room and then turn on to disinfect the room. They are usually used in hospitals but I’ve seen them used in places like China during their zero covid crackdown on public transportation.
Some transit systems in China even converted a paint booths to disinfect with UV so they could drive buses through. All of which is probably overkill as prolonged exposure to sunlight will do the same thing.
Exposure to UV light that is intense enough to kill viruses within seconds is very bad for humans. I pulled the cover off a system I was taking marketing pictures for while it was turned on. Within a thirty to sixty seconds I could feel like I was getting a sunburn on my arm that was closest to the light. I wouldn’t want to risk a direct UV system turning on while someone is sleeping and burning them. As a result most systems are indirect and rely on a combination of UV and HEPA filters to disinfect airborne viruses.
There are other ways to disinfect surfaces. Bleach or chlorine is cheap, simple and won’t harm humans. Chlorine gas can be used to kill really bad viruses like anthrax. Chlorine gas was used to disinfect the Federal buildings that had been contaminated in the 2001 anthrax attacks. Many detail shops, rental car agencies and public transit systems in the US use Chlorine gas on vehicles to disinfect or more commonly remove nasty odors from vehicles. The gas can seep into all cracks/crevices and get into the HVAC system ductwork in ways UV light can not. If you ever get into a car that faintly smells like a pool, chances are it has been gassed recently to kill an odor.
BYD has rode Teslas coattails for years. EVs in China didn’t take off until Tesla built a Gigafactory to supply their batteries.
The Chinese car market is dead right now, BYD and other EV makers are dumping their EVs on the global market at a steep discount (Subsidized hmmm by the state) to stay afloat. They’ve targeted their higher end EV products on the EU market because they don’t have protections in place like the US. The EU is going to stop this and well see their numbers drop.
Looks at OG Atari 2600 still chugging away on my gaming shelf after almost 40 years and chuckles.
Just as the founders intended.
A parents inability to parent their children should not infringe upon my right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
I moved to Reddit during the great Digg exodus.
Last year I had the exact same experience with the same subject in a r/Europe forum. I decided after the temporary ban that I wouldn’t use Reddit. Deleted my beloved Redditisfun App and never looked back.
Looks at the training and schooling requirements for medical and technical degrees. Not to mention the years of experience and industry connections necessary to launch and manage a start up let alone bring a product to a highly regulated market.
I think there may be a little more to it than just the backing.
This was probably the biggest intelligence coup of this century. Our intelligence agencies have extremely capable hacking capabilities. I’m sure they not only know the provider, they know the exact building down to the individual IP addresses of the PCs that data was transmitted to. If they get that, they will be able to trace all of the other activities that originated from that Chinese agency.
On top of that when the US was done it still shot it down and now has the hardware to analyze.
I used Evernote religiously five years ago. But I left it for OneNote as well. No issues since.
You must be fun at parties.
It’s silly but it addresses a real problem. You don’t see job ads stating no women, Blacks, Mexicans, people with disabilities, etc. (This was very much a thing in the not too distant past, just look at job ads in the USA from the 60s)
Age was added later because employers prefer hiring younger people as they can often pay them significantly less and get more work out of them because of their inexperience.
There are examples of employers firing all of their older workers to save money (though many of these companies turned out as terrible for the long term health of the company).
Older people tend to vote more and the state doesn’t want to pay unemployment to people so hence the law was amended.
This is just another example of age and deviousness triumphing over youth and enthusiasm.
So you and your friend regularly go up to random strangers who ride around in SUVs and trucks and call them bitches? Sounds needlessly aggressive.
No I wouldn’t fit comfortably in an Elantra. In fact I wouldn’t buy a Hyundai anything in the first place.
Let me give you the TLDR summary. I made the point that trucks and SUVs became popular about the same time that full size cars got smaller in America.
No where did I state that trucks or SUVs got smaller.
You can’t tell me a 80s Chevy Caprice is the same size as a 23 Honda Accord or Nissan Maxima.
Yeah I call bullshit. People don’t want modern cars because they are low to the ground, smaller and harder for people to get into.
As a 6’2” dude every time I get into a rental car I smack my head and have to contort myself to get in and out. There is also never enough room for anything beyond a few suitcases. I always breathe a sigh of relief when I get back to my truck after a long business trip in a car.
Crossovers and trucks are popular because they have space and are easier to get out of. Full size cars from the 80s tend to be way bigger than full size cars from today. Once cars started shrinking and getting lower to meet EPA mileage requirements which is also the same period of time when people started abandoning cars for trucks and SUVs in the 90s.
I have kids, it is great knowing that I’ve successfully continued my bloodline like my ancestors before me.
While those that have not procreated will die as failures in the eyes of nature. Their bloodlines will end in 100 years it will be like they were never there to begin with.
Kids are also pretty awesome to have.
