Well Devops isn’t a role. It’s an approach in which bridges development and operations and integrating it in the team. It isn’t sticking a cloud engineer (cloud biased sysadmin) in the team. It’s about collaboration and delegating and supporting.
Cloud engineer is unfortunately what many orgs think devops is.
Depends on what you are referring to. If Linux Mobile, Android apps can be run on Waydroid and there is a compatibility layer like Wine available. However, for Linux Mobile, you’ll open up Gnome and KDE apps. In Plasma, you have kirigami which enables convergent apps (that work on desktop, mobile and tablet). As it matures, more apps will be developed that supports it.
The world and ecosystem now doesn’t define the ecosystems of the future.
What do you mean?
You can use sandboxes play store if you wish.
Well it’s open source android, if the code is bad, it’s jettisoned. While I cannot stand Google, not every line of code they write is trash.
The sandbox is good and you do not need to install Play if you do not want to. I use f droid where possible.
I want Linux Mobile but it is not ready yet. In the mean time, this is the best we have.
As someone who has used it for a few years. Incorrect. I had one upgrade issue (from KDE 5 to 6). Other than that. Smooth. For the Plasma upgrade, just change to default them before upgrade and upgrade from command line, not terminal window.
Or there is OpenSuse Tumbleweed which is up to date, and stable…
Ah interesting. Appreciate the clarification. Not seen much from Beehaw in a while.
Lemmy.world has a higher percentage of questionable users for sure.
You think they use official devices for all their stuff?
Separate point, but are beehaw now not defederated from the world? When did this happen?
So you’re saying if Valve enshittified, they wouldn’t fork and try to capitilise on that market?
They probably do not see the point right now as Valve have it sewn up. Lemmy grew when Reddit scored own goals. When Valve do, opportunities are there and would be taken.
Maybe, but DRM free content isn’t exactly shareholder value…
It’s better shepherded than Epic. They probably don’t fill the space because Steam do it better, but you invest more if the return is higher.
The case I’m referring to is in the future if Steam badly enshittified.
Proton is open source. Anyone can pull it together and integrate it. Gog have been doing DRM free games for a while, they’ll be quite keen to fill this niche. Epic probably won’t care. If none do, someone will want to.
Codeberg, or failing that, GitLab, or BitBucket. Allowing MS to control all FLOSS software, means they might probably secretly get consent to use your code for copilot training without respecting licences. I have no idea if this happens, or might in the future, as I ain’t reading the terms of service for something I do not use, however, I have little trust for them enough for air on the side of caution.
Same here. Dreadful name. Classic open source.

Happy to chip in, but not as sole mod. I ressurected the DeGoogled community on lemmy.ml and overseeing it since then.
The privacy is not about protecting your data from crawlers, it’s about protecting your data from big tech.
It actually doesn’t.
It is the open source code. You can optionally install Google play in a restrictive sandbox if you wish. You do not have to.
I cannot disagree with the last sentence. He has his fair share of issues, but it doesn’t take away from his ability or contributions.
