The ELN (like the FARC and M-19 of which Petro was once a member) fought for social justice in a country run by fascists. But they’ve long since shed any pretense that they motivated by ideology. However anyone who supports peace should celebrate this deal, and I do believe that Biden will come out in favor and will make a statement to that effect. He did after all invite Petro to the White House for talks in April.

Of note: the “Total Peace” plan being promoted by Petro includes not only left wing guerilla groups but also the right wing AUC paramilitaries (who were even more brutal than the guerillas), as well as the major criminal gangs in the country.

2 minute search reveals ELN is considered a “terrorist-group” by the USA. 3 minute search reveals ELN is marxist.

    The joke writes itself.

Cuba, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, and Norway are the international guarantors for the peace talks.

Norway impressed me once again. As expected there is no France or any other USA lapdogs.

      From Wikipedia:

The ELN advocate a composite communist ideology of Marxism-Leninism and liberation theology.

Later, the ELN was headed by a series of Roman Catholic priests, exponents of Liberation Theology. Most notable was Camilo Torres Restrepo (1929–66), a well-known university professor (egalitarian and Marxist–Leninist) who was openly critical of the what he considered grossly unequal income among the social classes of Colombia. His attraction to the radical ideas of Liberation Theology led him to join the ELN, a guerrilla army intent upon effecting the revolutionary praxis of liberation theology among the poor people of Colombia.

Leftoids really applaud anything that waves a red flag don’t they?

Even more ironic since the liberals want to create a christian taliban state in the USA.

You created an account at a leftcom instance, at least pretend you’re not an infiltrated liberal.

As for the post, I wish religion would disappear but sadly, it won’t. It’s called choosing the lesser of two evils.

And Jesus was communist, the bible is a communist book.

Oh yeah I remember when Marx praised the Bible and advocated ‘choosing the lesser of two evils’. It’s neatly tucked away alongside his discourse on socialist commodity production, isn’t it?

Going to take the “opium of the people” thing extremely out of context, is that what you’re going for?
