During a visit to lobby legislators on transgender issues, Senator Cardin Summers (R) knelt down and told a child he would protect her. When he learned she was trans, he backed away.

That senator probably thought “I’m a pedo but I’m not gay!!” And got offended when he learned the little girl was born a boy.
