    I mean, it wouldn’t be that surprising, there’s a long history of soldiers of all nations misusing rocket fuel. The original V-2s at one point had to have a laxative mixed into their 75% ethanol fuel to stop the technicians drinking it.

      Drinking aviation alcohol has long traditions in Russia. Generally I think fuels aren’t drinkable (at least more than once) but ethyl alcohol (ie. ethanol) is used in eg. cooling and air conditioning. The Tu-22 is known as the “supersonic booze carrier” because the cockpit air conditioning used 40% ABV ethanol / water mix for coolant, and air and ground crews would drink it and even sell it.
