It does safeguard to some extent. The goty editions will typically have all patches that didn’t exist on the launch version. This is usually an issue for offline play/preservation where the platform that would provide you with updates no longer exist.

Yeah, having all of the patches is another good thing about GOTY editions.
But this still have nothing to do with GOTY editions stopping our games from disappearing. They still can’t, btw.

Unfortunately only the Xbox version will have it all included on the disc.
The PS5 and PC version will be included as a code for the DLC.
