DDR. Would see scrolling arrows when I’d shut my eyes b
You wouldn’t download a serial killer.
But you could download countless murder-mystery audiobooks and ebooks from Libby, so that’s a close second.
Sigh…

We live in a society. We have laws. And order.
My COVID home-improvement project was hardwoods. Something like 1000sqft. Never did it before. Did 90% of it wearing no more than basketball shorts and flipflops. W/e. Only a few toe injuries.
My primary laptop is a Lenovo T495s. I’m a big fan because my requirements for a laptop aren’t particularly demanding, but while a 5 year old Ryzen 7 is a bit aged, I’d hardly consider it underpowered, at least for my (and many others) needs. Laptops like this can easily be found in great condition and under $200. I spent a little more after a new nvme and maxing out ram.
As a network guy…open up your favorite web-managed application and open the developer console. Inspect the transactions you see and compare it to the applications REST API reference, and you’ll likely find a lot of commonality (and maybe some undocumented endpoints!).
Backend made the API and everything that is performed by it. Front end is doing the GUI based off the response and promoting for input.
I’m sure the only reason why they waited this long is that they needed to make sure it’s old enough that the companies they stole code from can’t sue.
True, but most streaming media now is a bunch of stills with the changes for each individual frame between them.
Fun fact, first webcam was a series of updating stills of an actual coffee pot so some engineers would know if there was coffee made.
Sure, they can you on, but which patron is the real patron?
Suppose the ticket was supplied as a PDF. Then it is either in the users Downloads directory or in their email. If that PDF is obtained by a malicious actor, it could be resold countless times. You could have 100 “guests” arrive at a venue with a bogus ticket but only the first one gets in, because they were scanned. That first person may not be the legitimate ticket owner.
Now, if your using their app, they usually put an animation over the barcode, and the gate attendants know to look for that. If that animation isn’t there, don’t scan. Pretty simple instructions to give to anyone. And accessing the app likely requires logging in, probably with some form of MFA (though probably SMS), so it gets a lot more difficult to rip off both the legitimate users and Ticketmaster in this way.
I don’t like having to use a specific app for things like this, but “I kinda get it”.
Now, it’d be better if we had a universal standard format for putting secure, validated passes into the native phone app. Perhaps registering your device to your account via their website, then only allowing the ticket to be installed on one device. I’m sure there’d be more to it, im just spitballing.
The deforestation is to grow soy to feed cows to make milk and beef.
Kinda frustrating when the environmental alternative to dairy milk…is being planted in the former Amazon Rainforest to make dairy milk.
Personally I prefer soy milk since it generally requires the least resources and also has the highest amount of bioavailable protein.
Oat is pretty good though.
I didn’t like soy milk at all when I was younger (like a teenager). It had a weird aftertaste and texture. I don’t know if it has changed since then or not, but now I also find it generally the tastiest.
I also use organic soy milk (since it is usually the only type that doesn’t have gums or other ingredients…just soybeans and water) to make really simple plain yogurt too. I just break open a probiotic capsule or two into a 1qt tetrapak bottle, shake it up really good, divy up into 1c mason jars, and run the Instant Pot Yogurt setting for 15-16 hours.
That yogurt gets made into parfaits or overnight oats (with some date syrup if I can’t find it…or just maple syrup to sweeten). Sometimes I’ll even make a really good soft serve frozen yogurt (mix 1 part sugar to 4 parts yogurt, freeze 6+ hours, put it in a good blender, add fruit or vanilla or cocoa (or all!) as desired.
I don’t remember any of that from school.
I got one year of food wheel followed by 11 of food pyramid, and that was the extent of diet and nutrition.
You can turn off the phone???
It is a separate issue but digital games need work too.
Namely that digital games should in theory cost less than physical. There are no manufacturing and very little distribution costs. As it stands now the consumer has no ability to resell. And it’s often direct to consumer.
Never mind the ass-backwards controls they put on the software limiting how you can use it (looking at you, Nintendo. Anyone with more than one switch shared by more than one user understands).
Secret’s small enough for a 3-1-1 bag but made to rip you off through shrinkflation.
I’ve really never minded gate-checking, and when I travel alone (i.e. for work), I travel light and try to cram everything into a larger carryon and gate check it.
The biggest bottleneck on the way out is waiting at baggage claim. Gate checked bags are returned to you at the tarmac or at the end of the PBB, and sometimes they are there waiting for you before you even get to it, making it the quickest way out of the airport.
Dr Chan is a pretty cool doctor. Eh diagnosed one of my friends as a b-tard and doesn’t afraid of nothing.
